What is Domum Ornamentum?

1 part

Domum Ornamentum is included in this pack as version 1.0.218-snapshot, so you can use it right away.[1]

Where it shows up in the pack

The mod appears in the pack's building tips quest chapter. The quest a quest in "?" asks you to get an Architect's Cutter, and it unlocks after you finish another quest. Since it sits in a building tips chapter, you can pick it up whenever you want to put more effort into how your base looks.[2]

Unverified Domum Ornamentum is commonly described as a decorative building mod: you use the Architect's Cutter to make blocks textured with materials you choose, which suits players who care about builds and aesthetics. The pack files don't confirm how it works or what it can make.

How do you get started with Domum Ornamentum?

3 parts

Domum Ornamentum is all about decorating, and your first goal is its key workstation, the Architect's Cutter. This pack even has a quest for it, a quest in "?", in the building tips chapter. The quest simply asks you to get the cutter.[2]

Step 1: Build the Architect's Cutter

The cutter is made at a regular crafting table. Heads up: this pack has changed its recipe, so an old video or another pack might show a different one. Use the recipe below, which is the one actually in the pack.[3]

The pack's modified recipe

Why start here? Some of the mod's blocks carry a tooltip that says "Crafted in the Architect's Cutter". When you spot that line, you know the cutter is where that block comes from.[4]

Unverified How the Architect's Cutter's interface works, and which blocks it can make, isn't covered by the sources here. Check the cutter in-game or look up its recipes in your recipe viewer. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Step 2: Grab some easy decorative blocks

While you gather materials, you can make a lot of the mod's blocks at a normal crafting table. A nice first pick is the new brick family: Beige Bricks, Brown Bricks, Cream Bricks, Roan Bricks and Sand Bricks, plus stone brick versions like Beige Stone Bricks. These are shapeless recipes, so the layout in the grid doesn't matter.[3]

Step 3: Add some detail

Once your walls are up, the mod has some fun detail pieces. Standing Barrel and Laying Barrel are decorative barrels you can make with basic wood materials.[3]

Floating carpets come in every dye color, from White Floating Carpet to Black Floating Carpet. Each one is a quick shapeless craft.[3]

The other colors follow the same pattern

Tip: The mod also has shaped recipes for a set of "extra" items, such as Brick Extra, Cobblestone Extra and dyed versions like Blue Brick Extra. Look them up in your recipe viewer if you're curious.[3]

Unverified What the "extra" items are used for isn't confirmed by the available sources.

How does Domum Ornamentum work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Domum Ornamentum is a decorative building mod, and the sources for this pack only cover one system in any depth: the Architect's Cutter. The mod's origin tooltip reads "Crafted in the Architect's Cutter", so that's the workstation to look for when you want its blocks.[5]

Getting the Architect's Cutter

The pack changed the cutter's crafting recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The recipe below is the exact one used in this pack.[6]

Items you make at the crafting table

Not everything needs the cutter. The recipe dump lists ordinary crafting recipes for several items, such as the Standing Barrel and Laying Barrel, the coloured floating carpets like Black Floating Carpet, and the brick variants like Beige Bricks and Cream Stone Bricks. These are listed as the mod's own recipes, not pack changes.[6]

The same goes for the "extra" blocks, for example Blue Brick Extra, Green Cobblestone Extra and Green Cactus Extra, plus the plain Brick Extra, Cobblestone Extra and Cactus Extra. Here is one of them as an example of the in-pack layout.[6]

Unverified The sources here do not show how the Architect's Cutter interface works. No in-jar guidebook or config files for Domum Ornamentum were available, so any pack-specific settings for the mod are not shown either.

How do you progress through Domum Ornamentum?

2 parts

Domum Ornamentum doesn't have a tier ladder to climb in this pack. There are no machines to upgrade and no higher-grade materials to unlock. Progression comes down to one key block, the Architect's Cutter, plus a set of simple crafting recipes you can make from the start with vanilla materials.[2][3]

Step one: the Architect's Cutter

The only quest for this mod is a quest in "?", in the building tips chapter. Its one task is to get an Architect's Cutter. It has a prerequisite quest, so it unlocks after you complete an earlier one.[2]

The pack has changed the recipe for the Architect's Cutter, so don't rely on a recipe you remember from another pack or an old wiki. It's still a normal shaped crafting-table recipe using common early-game materials. The block below always shows the version used in this pack.[3]

Pack-modified recipe

Unverified How the Architect's Cutter works and which blocks you can make with it isn't covered by this pack's quests or recipe data, so check it in-game (for example with JEI) rather than trusting outside guides. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Blocks you can craft directly

Besides the cutter, the mod adds several groups of regular crafting recipes. The pack hasn't changed any of them, so they match the mod's own recipes.[3]

Tip: Many of the extra blocks have dyed versions. The brick one comes in every color, from Red Brick Extra to Light Blue Brick Extra. Cobblestone comes in Blue Cobblestone Extra, Green Cobblestone Extra and Purple Cobblestone Extra. There's also Green Cactus Extra and White Paper Extra. Each one uses its own dye, so stock up on dyes if you want a colorful palette.[3]

How does Domum Ornamentum work with other mods?

The only in-pack connection to the wider pack that the sources show is through the questbook. The Architect's Cutter, Architect's Cutter, is the task item of quest a quest in "?" in the "building_tips" chapter. To complete it, you just need to have the cutter.[2]

That quest has a prerequisite in the same chapter, so it unlocks as part of the building tips questline rather than standing on its own. If you're working through that chapter, expect Domum Ornamentum to come up as one of the building steps.[2]

Unverified The available sources don't show any recipes that combine Domum Ornamentum items with items from other mods, or any quests outside the building tips chapter that use this mod. Other cross-mod interactions may exist, but they can't be confirmed here.

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Domum Ornamentum?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

Domum Ornamentum only shows up in one quest in this pack, and it sits in the "building_tips" chapter. If you were hoping for a whole questline about this mod, there isn't one.[7]

The quest is a quest in "?", and it has no title. Its single task is to obtain the Architect's Cutter, which is the mod's main crafting station for building blocks.[7]

The quest comes after another quest in the quest tree, so you have to complete that prerequisite before this one unlocks. The source doesn't list any other tasks or rewards for it.[7]

Unverified The quest's reward, if it has one, is not shown in the available quest data, so it can't be confirmed here.

What changed in Domum Ornamentum between versions?

Here's how Domum Ornamentum has moved through the pack. The changelogs I have only record version bumps, so I can tell you which builds shipped when, but not what changed inside the mod itself.[1][8][9][10]

  • All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier: Domum Ornamentum was already in the pack by this point.[1]
  • All the Mods 10 2.42: updated from 1.0.204-1.21.1-snapshot to 1.0.213-snapshot.[10]
  • All the Mods 10 4.1: updated from 1.0.213-snapshot to 1.0.216-snapshot.[9]
  • All the Mods 10 4.3: updated from 1.0.216-snapshot to 1.0.218-snapshot.[8]
  • All the Mods 10 4.4: ships 1.0.218-snapshot, the same build as 4.3, so there's no update to the mod in this release.[1][8]

Unverified I don't have the mod's own changelogs for these builds, so what actually changed between the versions (new blocks, fixes, recipe or config changes) is unverified.
