What is Apothic Attributes?

Apothic Attributes is part of the pack, and this guide covers version 2.10.1 (the ApothicAttributes-1.21.1-2.10.1.jar file). It has been in the pack since at least version 2.25, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Apothic Attributes does, who it is aimed at, or how the pack changes its recipes or configs. I'm not going to guess at its mechanics here. Check the in-game tooltips and the other sections of this guide for confirmed details.

Unverified Where it fits in the pack's progression is unconfirmed. It is not on the ATM Star quest path, and no quests in this pack involve it, so you won't be pushed toward it by a questline.

How do you get started with Apothic Attributes?

3 parts

Apothic Attributes is about stats rather than items. The sources I have describe the attributes and effects it adds, so the best first step is to learn what each stat does. That way you can read it on your gear and know what it is worth.[2]

Stats worth knowing early

  • Crit Chance is the chance any damage you deal critically strikes. Crit Damage is the multiplier on those hits, and it includes vanilla jump crits, so the two work as a pair.[2]
  • Life Steal heals you for a percentage of post-mitigation damage. Overheal uses the same idea, but grants an absorption shield instead.[2]
  • Dodge Chance is the chance to dodge a melee attack or a projectile.[2]
  • Mining Speed is how fast you mine blocks compared to normal. Experience Gained is a multiplier on the experience you get from breaking blocks and killing mobs.[2]
  • Draw Speed is how fast you draw ranged weapons such as bows, crossbows or tridents. Arrow Damage is a damage multiplier for arrows, and tridents count as arrows. Arrow Velocity is a speed multiplier, and arrow damage scales with velocity.[2]
  • Healing Received is a multiplier on all incoming healing.[2]

Offense that bypasses defenses

Several stats cut through the target's defenses. Armor Pierce is a flat reduction to the target's armor value, while Armor Shred is a percentage reduction. Protection Pierce and Protection Shred are the flat and percentage reductions to the target's protection point total.[2]

Fire Damage and Cold Damage add bonus magic damage on melee attacks. Fire burns the enemies you hit, and cold slows them. Current HP Damage adds bonus physical damage on melee attacks, based on the target's health.[2]

Effects you may run into

  • Bleeding inflicts damage every two seconds.[2]
  • Sundering increases the damage the affected target receives.[2]
  • Detonation inflicts damage on expiry, based on the remaining fire ticks.[2]

Unverified The sources here show no in-pack recipes or quests for this mod, so I can't give you an ordered list of items to craft first. Only the stat and effect descriptions above are confirmed.

How does Apothic Attributes work?

8 parts

Apothic Attributes isn't a machine mod. The sources available for it describe attributes (stats on you and on mobs) plus a few status effects, so this section covers how those systems work, based on the mod's in-game description text.[2]

Critical hits

Crit Chance is the chance that any damage you deal is a critical strike. When it triggers, the extra damage is based on your Crit Damage, a damage multiplier for critical hits. That includes vanilla jump crits.[2]

Getting through armor and protection

Several stats cut through a target's defenses. Each one comes in a flat version and a percentage version.[2]

  • Armor Pierce is a flat reduction to the target's armor value.[2]
  • Armor Shred is a percentage reduction to the target's armor value.[2]
  • Prot Pierce is a flat reduction to the target's protection point total.[2]
  • Prot Shred is a percentage reduction to the target's protection point total.[2]

On the defensive side, the vanilla armor attribute increases physical damage reduction. Armor toughness reduces the effectiveness of enemy armor reduction.[2]

Bonus melee damage

  • Fire Damage adds bonus magic damage on melee attacks and burns the enemies you hit.[2]
  • Cold Damage adds bonus magic damage on melee attacks and slows the enemies you hit.[2]
  • Current HP Damage adds bonus physical damage on melee attacks, based on the target's health.[2]

Ranged combat

Arrow Damage is a damage multiplier for arrows, and tridents count as arrows. Arrow Velocity is a speed multiplier for arrows, and arrow damage scales with velocity. Projectile Damage is a separate multiplier for all outgoing projectiles. Draw Speed controls how fast you draw ranged weapons such as bows, crossbows or tridents.[2]

Staying alive

  • Dodge Chance is the chance to dodge a melee attack or a projectile.[2]
  • Life Steal heals you for a percentage of post-mitigation damage.[2]
  • Overheal grants you an absorption shield worth a percentage of post-mitigation damage.[2]
  • Healing Received is a multiplier on all incoming healing.[2]

Utility stats

  • Mining Speed is how fast you mine blocks compared to normal.[2]
  • Experience Gained is a multiplier on the experience you get from breaking blocks and killing mobs.[2]
  • Cooldown Reduction shortens the cooldown of triggered abilities and effects. Cooldowns use the ⌛ symbol.[2]
  • Creative Flight lets you fly as if in Creative Mode, and Elytra Flight lets you fly as if wearing an Elytra.[2]

Status effects

  • Bleeding inflicts damage every two seconds.[2]
  • Detonation inflicts damage when it expires, based on the remaining fire ticks.[2]
  • Sundering increases the damage the afflicted target receives.[2]

Vanilla and NeoForge attributes

The mod also adds descriptions to attributes you already know. Attack damage is the physical damage of a fully charged attack, and attack speed is how many fully charged attacks you can execute per second. Attack knockback is measured in half-blocks, and knockback resistance is how much knockback you ignore. Max health is how many hit points you can have, and movement speed applies while walking. Luck increases the likelihood of good things happening.[2]

The NeoForge attributes get the same treatment. Block reach and entity reach say how far you can interact with blocks and entities, in blocks. Step height is how many blocks you may step up without jumping, and swim speed is relative to normal. Entity gravity is measured in blocks/s², and name tag distance is how far away another player must be to see your name.[2]

What changed in Apothic Attributes between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Apothic Attributes 2.10.1. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, and the pack changelogs show it being updated steadily since then.[1]

Updates by pack release

  • All the Mods 10 2.32: updated from 2.6.1 to 2.6.2.[3]
  • All the Mods 10 2.40: updated from 2.6.2 to 2.7.0.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 2.47: updated from 2.7.0 to 2.8.0.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 3.0: updated from 2.8.0 to 2.8.1.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 4.3: updated from 2.8.1 to 2.9.0.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 5.5: updated from 2.9.0 to 2.9.1.[8]
  • All the Mods 10 7.3: updated from 2.9.1 to 2.10.1, which is the version still used in 8.1.[1][9]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record version bumps. What actually changed inside Apothic Attributes in each update (new attributes, fixes, balance tweaks) is unverified, because no changelogs for the shipped jars are available.
