What is Epitaphs?
Same as in the All the Mons 0.18.0-beta guide
Epitaphs is included in this pack as version 1.0.14, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]
It has been in the pack for a while. It was first included in version 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so you can expect it in a long-running install.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what Epitaphs does, who it is for, or where it fits in the pack's progression. There is no guidebook or platform description to confirm its features. The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, and no quests in this pack involve it, so this section doesn't guess at gameplay details.
How do you get started with Epitaphs?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.18.0-beta guide
There is nothing to craft to get started with Epitaphs. Going by the mod's own text, it is about graves: it tries to create a Grave that holds your items, and you only need to know what the messages in the game are telling you.[2]
What you will see in the game
- When a grave is made, you get the message "Created a grave with your items at", followed by the location. Go there to get your things back.[2]
- If the mod can't find a valid spot, you get "Found no valid position for a grave".[2]
- If something goes wrong while creating the grave, the message says your items are laying on the ground. In that case, look around where you were instead of searching for a grave.[2]
- Graves have owners. If you open one that isn't yours, you get a message saying it belongs to another player and you do not have access to it.[2]
- If a grave fails to load, the message tells you to check your logs for more info.[2]
Enchantments and commands
The mod also adds two enchantments, Soulbound and Experience Soulbound. It has commands for backing up and restoring a player's items too, with messages for success, failure and overflow when some items can't be inserted. The Grave has its own container screen.[2]
Unverified What Soulbound and Experience Soulbound actually do, how to obtain them, the exact command names and permissions, and whether the Grave can be crafted are not confirmed for this pack. No recipes, quests or config files for this mod were available, so no recipe block is shown.
How does Epitaphs work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.18.0-beta guide
Epitaphs is not a machine mod. It has no multiblocks, power, fluids or automation. The only information available for this mod is its text strings, and they describe one system: the Grave, a block that holds your items.[2]
How graves work
The mod's messages show three outcomes when it tries to make a grave for you. On success, you get a message that a grave was created with your items, followed by its location. If the mod finds no valid position, it tells you so. If something goes wrong while creating the grave, it tells you your items are laying on the ground instead.[2]
A grave has an owner. If you try to open someone else's grave, you get a message saying it belongs to that player and you do not have access to it. The grave opens as a container screen titled Grave. If a grave fails to load, you get an error message that points you to your logs.[2]
Backup and restore commands
The mod also has command feedback for backing up graves and restoring a player's items. The messages cover a completed backup, a failed backup, a missing grave for a player, and a restore that succeeded or failed. One more message says some items could not be inserted for a given player UUID. In each failure case the game tells you to check your logs.[2]
Enchantments
The mod adds two enchantments, Soulbound and Experience Soulbound.[2]
Unverified What Soulbound and Experience Soulbound actually do, the exact command names and syntax, and any permission requirements are not confirmed by the available sources.
