What is Elytra Slot?
2 parts
Elytra Slot gives you a dedicated elytra slot in your player inventory, so you can fly and wear chest armor at the same time. Normally the elytra takes up your chestplate slot, and this mod removes that trade-off.[1]
It works through the Curios API (or Trinkets API on Fabric). While an elytra sits in the new slot, it gives the same flight capabilities as if you wore it as a chestplate. You keep the benefits of the elytra without giving up an armor slot.[1]
This pack ships Elytra Slot 9.0.2+1.21.1, the NeoForge build.[2]
Who it is for
It is for anyone who wants to fly without compromising on armor. If you would rather wear a strong chestplate than swap it for an elytra, this mod is for you.[1]
Good to know
- The mod was formerly known as Curious Elytra and Elytra Trinket, so you may find older videos or posts under those names.[1]
- It is licensed under LGPL-3.0-or-later.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't show where Elytra Slot fits into this pack's progression, and they don't show any changes the pack makes to the mod. Treat it as a standard quality-of-life addition until that is confirmed.
How do you get started with Elytra Slot?
3 parts
Elytra Slot adds a dedicated elytra slot to your player inventory. Put an elytra in it and you get the same flight as if it were in your chestplate slot, so you can fly and still wear chest armor.[1]
What to do first
- Get an elytra. The mod adds the slot, not the wings. The sources don't say how this pack hands out elytra, so find one the way you normally would.[1]
- Put the elytra in the elytra slot instead of your chestplate slot. While it sits there, it gives you the same flight capabilities as wearing it on your chest.[1]
- Wear the chest armor you actually want. This is the whole point of the mod: you don't give up an armor slot to fly.[1]
Nothing to craft
There are no recipes for this mod in this pack, so there's no recipe block here. You don't need to build anything special before you start. No quests in this pack involve the mod either, so you won't find a quest chain pointing you at it.[1]
Required libraries
The mod page says Elytra Slot uses the Curios API or Trinkets API to create its slot. On Forge it lists Curios API and Caelus API as dependencies, and on Fabric it lists Trinkets.[1]
Unverified Which loader this pack uses, where the elytra slot appears in the inventory screen, and whether the pack changes any of the mod's settings are not confirmed by the available sources. Check in game before relying on any of them.
How does Elytra Slot work?
2 parts
Elytra Slot doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling. It does one job: it lets you wear an elytra and chest armor at the same time.[1]
How the slot works
The mod uses the Curios API (or the Trinkets API on Fabric) to add a dedicated elytra slot to your player inventory. You can place an elytra in that slot.[1]
While the elytra sits in that slot, it gives you the same flight capabilities as if it were in your chestplate slot. You get the benefits of the elytra without giving up an armor slot, so you can keep your best chestplate on while you fly.[1]
Dependencies
On Forge, the mod depends on Curios API and Caelus API. On Fabric, it depends on Trinkets instead.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't cover how the slot appears in this pack's inventory screen, any pack-specific changes, config options, recipes or quests for this mod. They also don't say which loader's dependencies the pack uses, so check in-game rather than assuming.
What changed in Elytra Slot between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Elytra Slot 9.0.2+1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier, so it is one of the long-standing inclusions.[2]
9.0.2+1.21.1 (2024.10.02)
- Fixed: a crash with the Deeper and Darker integration.[3]
That is the only entry in the changelog copy for the latest version. It is a bug fix, so nothing about how the mod plays changed in that release.[3]
Unverified Changes from earlier Elytra Slot releases are not covered here, and no pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so what changed between pack versions is unverified.
