What is Elytra Slot?

1 part

Elytra Slot adds accessory support to the elytra, so you can fly and wear chest armor at the same time. It was formerly known as Curious Elytra and Elytra Trinket.[1]

It uses the Curios API (or the Trinkets API on Fabric) to add a dedicated elytra slot to your player inventory. While an elytra sits in that slot, it gives you the same flight capabilities as if it were in your chestplate slot. You get to fly without giving up an armor slot.[1]

In this pack

This pack includes Elytra Slot 9.0.2+1.21.1, the NeoForge build. It has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier.[2]

The project page lists Curios and Caelus as the dependencies for the Forge version of the mod.[1]

How do you get started with Elytra Slot?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

Elytra Slot adds a dedicated elytra slot to your player inventory. Put an elytra in it and you get the same flight as if it were in your chestplate slot, so you can fly and still wear chest armor.[1]

What to do first

  1. Get an elytra. The mod adds the slot, not the wings. The sources don't say how this pack hands out elytra, so find one the way you normally would.[1]
  2. Put the elytra in the elytra slot instead of your chestplate slot. While it sits there, it gives you the same flight capabilities as wearing it on your chest.[1]
  3. Wear the chest armor you actually want. This is the whole point of the mod: you don't give up an armor slot to fly.[1]

Nothing to craft

There are no recipes for this mod in this pack, so there's no recipe block here. You don't need to build anything special before you start. No quests in this pack involve the mod either, so you won't find a quest chain pointing you at it.[1]

Required libraries

The mod page says Elytra Slot uses the Curios API or Trinkets API to create its slot. On Forge it lists Curios API and Caelus API as dependencies, and on Fabric it lists Trinkets.[1]

Unverified Which loader this pack uses, where the elytra slot appears in the inventory screen, and whether the pack changes any of the mod's settings are not confirmed by the available sources. Check in game before relying on any of them.

How does Elytra Slot work?

3 parts

Elytra Slot is a small quality-of-life mod, and its whole job is one extra slot for your elytra. The sources here describe no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation for it, so this section covers how the slot works and which items it recognizes.[1]

How the slot works

The mod uses Curios API (or Trinkets API on Fabric) to add an elytra slot to the player inventory. You place your elytra in that slot instead of the chestplate slot.[1]

While the elytra sits in the slot, it grants the same flight capabilities as if it were in your chestplate slot. That means you can fly and wear chest armor at the same time.[1]

Tip: You keep your chestplate's protection and still get the elytra's flight, without giving up an armor slot.[1]

Which items fit

The mod ships an item tag that lists the elytra it recognizes. The first entry is Elytra. Every other entry in the tag is marked with "required": false, so those entries are optional additions that only count when the other mod is present.[3]

Some of the optional entries in that tag are:[3]

Requirements

The mod's project page lists Curios and Caelus as the dependencies on Forge, and Trinkets on Fabric.[1]

How do you progress through Elytra Slot?

1 part

The one piece of Elytra Slot data the sources show is an item tag that lists the elytra items the mod recognises. The list starts with the vanilla Elytra.[3]

Every other entry in the tag is marked as not required, so the tag doesn't need that item's mod to be present. The tag alone doesn't tell you which of its entries actually exist in this pack.[3]

Elytras the tag recognises

Besides the vanilla elytra, the tag names elytra-style items from other mods. A couple of examples from the list:[3]

The tag is a flat list with no order or ranking, so it doesn't describe any progression between these elytras.[3]

Unverified A step-by-step progression or tier breakdown for this mod would come from the pack's quest book and recipes. The sources here show no quests and no recipes involving Elytra Slot, so no path or tiers are described.

What changed in Elytra Slot between versions?

1 part

Elytra Slot is in the pack from the very start: it was first included in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0 or earlier. Version 2.0.6 ships Elytra Slot 9.0.2+1.21.1, using the file elytraslot-neoforge-9.0.2+1.21.1.jar.[2]

Latest mod release: 9.0.2+1.21.1

The mod's own changelog for 9.0.2+1.21.1 is dated 2024.10.02 and lists a single change under Fixed: a crash with the Deeper and Darker integration was fixed. Since this is the version the pack ships, that fix is already part of your game.[2][4]

Unverified No pack changelog entries mentioning Elytra Slot were available, so any changes to the mod between pack releases are unverified.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as elytraslot, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
