What is Zero CORE 2?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Zero CORE 2 is in the pack at version 1.21.1-2.4.21. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list.[1]
The only thing the pack's in-game guide documents for it is its GUI framework, which supports themes. A theme sets the colours of GUI elements like control backgrounds, enabled and disabled text, button borders and gradients, text fields, the text caret and GUI titles.[2]
Themes are loaded by a mod from a JSON file. Texture pack and mod pack authors can override that theme file. Every value is required and is written as an RGBA colour in a hexadecimal string, such as "868686FF".[2]
So this is not a mod you build a base around. If you're a player, there's nothing to craft or unlock here. It's mainly relevant if you're a pack or texture author who wants to change how GUIs look.[2]
Unverified The sources don't show any quests that involve this mod, and they don't place it on the ATM Star path. Which other mods rely on it, and what else it adds, is also unconfirmed.
How do you get started with Zero CORE 2?
3 parts
Zero CORE 2 is a library mod. Other mods use it to build their screens and machine controls, so it has no crafting chain to work through. The first thing to learn is how to recognise what it adds to your game.[3][4]
Step 1: Know the Debug Tool
The one item in the sources is the Debug Tool. Right-click a block with it to show debug info about that block. That is handy when a machine from a mod built on Zero CORE isn't behaving and you want to see what it is doing.[4]
By default the queries run on the server side. The tool's tooltip also mentions an option to query on the client side. The sources don't say how you switch to it, so check the tooltip in game.[4]
Unverified How to obtain the Debug Tool in this pack is not confirmed. No in-pack recipe for it was available, so there is no recipe block here.
Step 2: Read the common GUI controls
Machines built on Zero CORE share the same controls, so learning them once helps across several mods. The energy bar is labelled Internal Energy Buffer and shows the stored amount, the capacity and a percentage full. The fluid bar shows its contents in the same way.[4]
Redstone settings use a shared set of options too. A sensor can have its signal direction set to input or output. Its behaviour can be one of these: active while above, below or between values, set from signal, set from signal level, set on pulse, toggle on pulse, perform on pulse, increase on pulse or decrease on pulse. If you enter a maximum that isn't greater than the minimum, the screen warns you.[4]
Step 3: Know that the GUI colours can change
Zero CORE's GUI framework supports themes. A theme sets the colours of things like control backgrounds, text, button states, text fields and GUI titles. A mod loads a theme from a JSON file, and texture or resource pack authors can override it. If a machine screen looks different from what you expect, a theme override is a likely cause.[3]
Every theme value is required and is an RGBA colour written as a hexadecimal string, for example "868686FF".[3]
How does Zero CORE 2 work?
5 parts
Zero CORE 2 is a support mod, and the sources for this pack only cover what it shows on screen: shared GUI controls, redstone sensor settings, a debug tool and a colour theme system. They don't explain specific machines, multiblocks or automation setups, so this section sticks to what is confirmed.[3][4]
Energy and fluid bars
Machines that use the mod's GUI framework show their power on an energy bar labelled "Internal Energy Buffer". Hover over it and the tooltip gives the stored amount, the total capacity and how full the buffer is as a percentage.[4]
The fluid bar works the same way. Its tooltip shows the stored amount, the capacity and a percentage full. An empty tank is labelled "Empty".[4]
Redstone sensor settings
The mod's GUI has a shared redstone sensor control. You first choose the signal direction, either input or output. Then you pick a behavior for it.[4]
- Active while above, active while below and active while between: the sensor is active depending on where the value sits against your set limits.[4]
- Set from signal and set from signal level: the value follows the redstone signal that comes in.[4]
- Set on pulse, increase on pulse, decrease on pulse, toggle on pulse and perform on pulse: a redstone pulse triggers the change.[4]
I/O port screen
Some blocks have an I/O port screen with an "Operational mode:" setting. The sources don't list the available modes or say which blocks use this screen, so check it in-game.[4]
Debug Tool
The Debug Tool shows debug info for a block when you right-click it. Queries run on the server side by default, and the tooltip also mentions an option to query on the client side. The sources don't say how to switch between the two.[4]
GUI themes
The GUI framework supports themes that set the colours of GUI elements. A mod loads a theme from a JSON file, and texture pack or mod pack authors can override that file. Every value is required and is an RGBA colour written as a hexadecimal string.[3]
A theme sets colours for control backgrounds, enabled and disabled text, dark outlines, the GUI title, the text field caret, and the backgrounds and borders of text fields and buttons. Buttons have separate colour sets for the normal, disabled, active and highlighted states.[3]
Button and text field backgrounds are drawn as a gradient from a light colour to a dark colour. If both colours are the same, a flat background is drawn instead. Button and text field borders have light and dark sections, which gives the 3D look.[3]
Unverified How specific machines, multiblocks, power transfer, fluid handling and item automation work with Zero CORE 2 in this pack is not covered by the available sources.
How do you progress through Zero CORE 2?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
This section is short on purpose. The only material available for this mod describes its GUI framework, not a progression path or tiers. There's nothing here to build a tier-by-tier breakdown from.[2]
What the guide does cover is GUI themes. A mod can load a theme from a JSON file, and texture or mod pack authors can override that file. Each theme value is an RGBA colour written as a hexadecimal string, and all values are required.[2]
Unverified Quests, crafting recipes and tiers for this mod in this pack could not be confirmed from the available sources, so no progression path is described here.
