What is Colorwheel Patcher?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Colorwheel Patcher automatically patches supported shaderpacks when the game launches, so they work with Colorwheel. It replaces the old manual patching with something much more convenient: you install the shaderpack and the mod does the rest.[1]

This pack ships version 1.0.5 for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. It has been in the pack since version 4.13 or earlier.[2]

Who it is for

It is for you if you want to run a shaderpack and have it work with Colorwheel, without patching anything by hand. If you don't use shaders, you can ignore it.[1]

How to use it

  1. Install the mod (it is already in the pack).[1][2]
  2. Install a compatible shaderpack from the list below.[1]
  3. Launch the game.[1]
  4. Select the patched shaderpack, which ends with "+ Clrwl ...".[1]

Supported shaderpacks

  • BSL 10.1[1]
  • Bliss 2.1.1 to 2.1.2[1]
  • Complementary 5.6 to 5.6.1 (officially supported since r5.7)[1]
  • Euphoria Patches 1.6.3 to 1.6.8 (officially supported since 1.7.0)[1]
  • Photon 1.3a[1]
  • Rethinking Voxels 0.1-beta9[1]
Tip: Many shaderpacks turn off Entity Shadows or Block Entity Shadows by default. Switch those options on if you want Create contraptions to cast lights and shadows.[1]

The mod author also offers a fork of Photon on their GitHub. It supports colored lighting on contraptions and works with Voxy, which the Photon patch built into this mod does not.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show where this mod fits in the pack's progression, and they don't show any quest or ATM Star path involvement, so treat it as an optional shader-compatibility add-on.

How do you get started with Colorwheel Patcher?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Good news: Colorwheel Patcher doesn't have a crafting chain to work through. It's a helper mod that automatically patches supported shaderpacks when the game launches, so they work with Colorwheel. It replaces the older manual patching.[1]

First steps, in order

  1. Make sure the mod is installed. This pack already includes it, so there's nothing to do here.[1]
  2. Install a compatible shaderpack. The supported list is below, so check your pack against it before downloading.[1]
  3. Launch the game. The patching happens automatically at launch.[1]
  4. Open your shaderpack list and select the patched version, which ends with "+ Clrwl ...".[1]

Supported shaderpacks

The mod's project page lists these shaderpacks and versions as supported:[1]

  • BSL 10.1[1]
  • Bliss 2.1.1 to 2.1.2[1]
  • Complementary 5.6 to 5.6.1, which is officially supported since r5.7[1]
  • Euphoria Patches 1.6.3 to 1.6.8, which is officially supported since 1.7.0[1]
  • Photon 1.3a[1]
  • Rethinking Voxels 0.1-beta9[1]
Tip: Many shaderpacks turn off Entity Shadows or Block Entity Shadows by default. Switch those options on if you want Create contraptions to cast lights and shadows.[1]

If you use Photon, the mod's author also has a fork of it on their GitHub. The fork supports colored lighting on contraptions and works with Voxy, which the patch from Colorwheel Patcher doesn't.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm which shaderpacks this pack ships with, or whether it has any quests or crafting recipes for this mod. Check your shaderpack's version against the supported list above.

How does Colorwheel Patcher work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

This one is a bit different from the machine-heavy mods you might be used to. Colorwheel Patcher has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item handling that the sources describe. It's a utility that patches supported shaderpacks automatically when the game launches, so they work with Colorwheel. It replaces the old manual patching with something much more convenient.[1]

How the patching workflow works

  1. Install the mod.[1]
  2. Install a compatible shaderpack from the supported list below.[1]
  3. Launch the game. The patching happens at launch.[1]
  4. Select the patched shaderpack, which has a name ending in "+ Clrwl ...".[1]

Supported shaderpacks

Only these shaderpack versions are listed as supported, so check your version if a pack doesn't get patched:[1]

  • BSL 10.1[1]
  • Bliss 2.1.1 - 2.1.2[1]
  • Complementary 5.6 - 5.6.1, which is officially supported since r5.7[1]
  • Euphoria Patches 1.6.3 - 1.6.8, which is officially supported since 1.7.0[1]
  • Photon 1.3a[1]
  • Rethinking Voxels 0.1-beta9[1]
Tip: Shaderpacks often disable Entity Shadows or Block Entity Shadows by default. Turn those options on if you want Create contraptions to cast lights and shadows.[1]

The mod's author also maintains a fork of Photon. According to the project page, the fork supports colored lighting on contraptions and is compatible with Voxy, which the patch included with Colorwheel Patcher is not.[1]

Unverified The sources don't confirm which shaderpacks, if any, ship with this pack, and no config files, recipes or in-game descriptions for this mod were available. Any further settings or behavior are unverified. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

What changed in Colorwheel Patcher between versions?

3 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Colorwheel Patcher 1.0.5+mc1.21.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 0.7.0-beta or earlier. I have no pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelog.[3]

Version in the pack: 1.0.5

  • 1.0.5 updated the Photon patch to 1.3a. This is the only change in the version your pack uses.[3][4]

1.0.x releases

  • 1.0.4 updated the BSL patch to 10.1 and flagged Bliss 2.1.2 as compatible.[4][5]
  • 1.0.3 added a patch for photon_v1.2a and set the correct homepage, sources and issues page links in the mod description.[4][5]
  • 1.0.2 flagged Complementary r5.6.1 as compatible.[4][5]
  • 1.0.1 updated the Complementary patch to r5.6.[4][5]
  • 1.0.0 made the patches compatible with Colorwheel 1.0, added a patch for Rethinking Voxels 0.1-beta9, flagged Euphoria 1.6.6 to 1.6.8 as compatible and replaced the Bliss version with 2.1.1.[4][5]
  • Also in 1.0.0: generated zips no longer have a root "/", which had caused issues with the Euphoria Patches mod, and the brand name was compressed to "Clrwl".[4][5]

0.2.x releases

  • 0.2.4 added Fabric builds and fixed pixelated shadows in Complementary.[4][5]
  • 0.2.3 added a system for Colorwheel to recommend a patched shaderpack, and fixed a compilation error in Complementary and Euphoria when using Advanced Colored Lighting.[4][5]
  • 0.2.2 fixed issues with shaderpack patch upgrades, flagged older patched shaderpacks as outdated and started copying shaderpack options during patching. It also added Euphoria 1.6.5 support and fixed an error in Complementary and Euphoria when Advanced Colored Lighting is enabled.[4][5]
  • 0.2.1 fixed Bliss Shaders not working and fixed a strong dependency on Euphoria Patcher on Neoforge.[4][5]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as colorwheel_patcher, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
