What is Classic Peripherals?
2 parts
Classic Peripherals is an addon for CC: Tweaked that adds a bunch of new peripherals and a few tweaks to existing ones. If you build computers in the pack, this is the mod that gives them extra things to talk to. FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 ships version 0.6.5, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.19.0 or earlier.[1][2]
What it adds
- Radio network: you can build Radio Towers to help long-range wireless communication. You craft a Radio Tower Base, at least one Radio Tower Segment and a Radio Tower Antenna, then stack them into a tower.[1]
- NFC and RFID: the NFC Reader peripheral can read and write data on an NFC Card, and it can write to an RFID Badge (write-only). The RFID Scanner reads all badges within its range wirelessly, with no user interaction.[1]
- Cryptographic Accelerator: it gives you Ed25519 and X25519, AES encryption and SHA hashing for securing your communications.[1]
- Scanner: a peripheral that reads printed paper, and it supports reading colors too.[1]
Tweaks to existing peripherals
The big one is Ender Modem nerfing. In vanilla CC: Tweaked, Ender Modems can send and receive messages from anywhere across all dimensions with a virtually unlimited range. This mod limits their range to 2x that of a normal wireless modem, unaffected by weather.[1]
Cross-dimensional messaging only works if the block position is close by, within 8 blocks, with scaling applied (1:8 for the overworld and the nether). The mod also adds the network name of the Redstone Relay peripheral to the redstone event.[1]
How do you get started with Classic Peripherals?

Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Classic Peripherals is an addon for CC: Tweaked that adds extra peripherals and a few tweaks. You'll get the most out of it once you already have CC: Tweaked computers and modems, because several of the recipes build on those parts. This is the order I'd make things in.[1][3]
First, the Copper Coil
Start with the Copper Coil. It's the shared part for the NFC Reader, the RFID Scanner, the RFID Badge and the Radio Tower Antenna, so making a few early saves you trips later. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[3]

Next, NFC Reader and NFC Card
Next, the NFC Reader is a good first peripheral. It can read and write data on an NFC Card, and it can also write to an RFID Badge, though badges are write-only.[1]

The pack changed this recipe. The reader above uses the mod's own recipe.
Then, RFID Scanner and Badge
If you want something hands-free, make an RFID Scanner and some badges. The scanner reads all badges within its range wirelessly, with no player interaction. The badge recipe is changed by the pack.[1][3]

After that, Scanner and Cryptographic Accelerator
The Scanner reads printed paper, including colors. The Cryptographic Accelerator covers Ed25519 and X25519, AES encryption and SHA hashing. The accelerator recipe is changed by the pack.[1][3]

How does Classic Peripherals work?
5 parts
Classic Peripherals is an addon for CC: Tweaked, so everything here is a peripheral you drive from a computer, plus a couple of tweaks to existing CC: Tweaked behaviour. This section walks through wireless range, data storage limits and the crafting chain for each device.[1]
Radio towers
Radio towers help with long-range wireless communication. You build one from a Radio Tower Controller, at least one Radio Tower Pole and a Radio Tower Antenna on top.[1][4]
The pack leaves every tower setting at the mod default. Height is counted including the base and the head: the minimum is radioTowerMinHeight (2) and the maximum is radioTowerMaxHeight (24). Each segment adds a range of radioTowerSegmentRange (128).[5]
Height in the world matters too. radioTowerMinY is set to 96, described as the minimum Y coordinate of the tower for maximum effective range. The tower's loss factor, radioTowerLossFactor, is 0.15, and messages can be up to 8,388,608 bytes (radioTowerMaxMessageSize).[5]

Ender Modem and Redstone Relay tweaks
The mod normally nerfs the Ender Modem: its project page says the range is limited to 2x a normal wireless modem, and cross-dimensional messaging only works within 8 blocks. The pack changed enderModemNerf to false (the mod default is true), so don't plan around those limits here. The multiplier (enderModemRangeMultiplier) and cross-dimensional range (enderModemCrossDimensionalRange) options are still present at 2 and 8.[1][5]
The other tweak is on: with betterRedstoneRelayEvent enabled, the network name of the Redstone Relay peripheral is added to the redstone event.[1][5]
NFC and RFID
The NFC Reader can read and write data on an NFC Card, and it can write to an RFID Badge (write-only). The RFID Scanner reads all badges within its range wirelessly, with no user interaction.[1]
Both limits are at mod defaults in the pack. Card and badge data can be up to 128 bytes (nfcMaxDataSize), and the scanner's maximum range is 8 (rfidScanRange).[5]
Several of these are built from the Copper Coil, whose recipe the pack changed. The NFC Card and RFID Badge recipes are pack changes as well.[6]

Cryptographic Accelerator
The Cryptographic Accelerator gives your computers an implementation of Ed25519 and X25519, AES encryption and SHA hashing. Its random bytes generator is capped at 65,536 bytes (cryptographicRandomBytesMaxSize), the mod default.[1][5]
It comes in a full block and a slim block, and a shapeless craft converts one into the other in either direction. The pack changed the main crafting recipe.[4][6]

How do you progress through Classic Peripherals?
4 parts
The sources here show no quest-book path for Classic Peripherals, so this section follows the in-pack recipes instead. The grouping below is just how I lay out the crafting chain.[6]
Start with the Copper Coil
Most of the mod starts with the Copper Coil. The pack changed this recipe, and one craft makes 2 coils, so it is cheap to stock up.[6]

Cards, badges and scanners
Once you have coils, you can make the contactless pieces. The pack changed the recipes for both the NFC Card and the RFID Badge. The NFC Reader and the RFID Scanner both use the mod's own recipes and both take a Copper Coil.[6]

The Scanner is the odd one out. Its recipe doesn't use a Copper Coil, and it is the mod's default recipe.[6]
Radio
The radio side connects to ComputerCraft's networking parts. The Radio Antenna uses the mod's default recipe and needs a Wireless Modem.[6]

The radio tower is a bigger build. The Radio Tower Controller (the Radio Tower Controller) has a pack-changed recipe. The Radio Tower Pole (the pole) uses the mod's default recipe. The Radio Tower Antenna (the Radio Tower Antenna) needs a pole, a Copper Coil and an Ender Modem, so craft the pole first.[6]

How does Classic Peripherals work with other mods?
2 parts
Classic Peripherals is an addon for CC: Tweaked, so its connections to other mods in this pack run through CC: Tweaked's networking items. The recipes below are the in-pack places where the two mods meet.[1][6]
Radio Tower crafting
Radio Towers help with long-range wireless communication. To build one you need a Radio Tower Controller, at least one Radio Tower Pole and a Radio Tower Antenna. Each of these recipes uses CC: Tweaked parts such as Networking Cable and modems.[1][6]

Ender Modem changes
The mod's project page says it changes the Ender Modem from CC: Tweaked. Instead of a virtually unlimited range, the Ender Modem is limited to 2x the range of a normal wireless modem. Cross-dimension messaging only works if the block position is close by, within 8 blocks, with scaling applied (1:8 for the overworld and nether). This is the mod's own description of its behavior.[1]
Which Classic Peripherals config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Most of Classic Peripherals' config is left at the mod defaults in this pack. There's one change that really matters, though, and it affects how you plan wireless setups. Everything lives in enderModemNerf and its neighbours in the same file.[7]
The one value the pack changed: Ender Modem nerf
enderModemNerf is set to false in this pack. The mod default is true. With the nerf on, the mod limits Ender Modems to 2x the range of a normal wireless modem and only allows cross-dimensional messaging when the block position is within 8 blocks (scaled 1:8 for the Overworld and Nether). Since the pack turns the nerf off, you shouldn't plan around those limits.[1][7]
The pack leaves enderModemRangeMultiplier at 2 and enderModemCrossDimensionalRange at 8, both the mod defaults.[7]
Unverified Whether those two range options still have any effect while the nerf is disabled is not confirmed by the available sources.
Radio tower settings (all mod defaults)
If you build Radio Towers for long-range communication, these are the values to know. The pack hasn't changed any of them.[1][7]
- radioTowerMinHeight is 2 and radioTowerMaxHeight is 24. Both heights include the base and the head.[7]
- radioTowerMinY is 96. This is the minimum Y coordinate of the tower for maximum effective range.[7]
- radioTowerSegmentRange is 128. This is the range per segment.[7]
- radioTowerLossFactor is 0.15.[7]
- radioTowerMaxMessageSize is 8,388,608 bytes.[7]
Other options at their defaults
- rfidScanRange is 8. This is the maximum range of the RFID scanner.[7]
- nfcMaxDataSize is 128 bytes. This is the data limit for NFC cards and RFID badges.[7]
- cryptographicRandomBytesMaxSize is 65,536. This is the most bytes the cryptographic accelerator's random bytes generator will produce.[7]
- antennaCanBroadcast is true, so the Mini Antenna can broadcast and not just receive.[7]
- betterRedstoneRelayEvent is true. The Redstone Relay's network name is added to the redstone event.[1][7]
What changed in Classic Peripherals between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 ships Classic Peripherals 0.6.5. It has been in the pack since 1.19.0 or earlier, so you may be updating from a version that already had it.[2]
Mod changelog highlights
These are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. Releases that are not listed here have no changelog in the sources for this guide.[8][9][10]
- 0.6.5 (the version in this pack): bugfixes with the BAN API, and BAN API support was added to Re:Plethora.[2][8]
- 0.6.3: Turtles with upgrades, Pocket Computers with upgrades, colored NFC Cards and colored RFID Badges were added to the creative tab.[9]
- 0.6.3: a new configuration option called cryptographicRandomBytesMaxSize limits the size of cryptographic_accelerator.randomBytes().[9]
- 0.5.1: fixed a bug where Radio Towers emitted particles for every message.[10]
Since 0.6.5 is the version in 1.22.0, the changes above from 0.6.3 and 0.5.1 are already part of what you get in this pack.[2][8][9][10]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Classic Peripherals were available, so any changes the pack itself made to this mod between releases are unverified.
