What is Artifacts?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
Artifacts is all about making exploration worth your time. It adds a set of powerful items that you can't craft, so the only way to get them is to go out and find them. This pack includes Artifacts 15.1.3 for NeoForge.[1][2]
Every item from the mod has its own unique model when you wear it, so your loot shows on your character. If you like treasure hunting and want a reason to poke around vanilla structures, this mod is for you.[1]
Where artifacts come from
- Chests in vanilla structures. Each artifact only appears in a few chests, so you'll need to explore widely.[1]
- Archaeology.[1]
- Very rarely, you can find them worn by entities.[1]
- Mimics. These dangerous enemies attack players who get too close, and they always drop a random artifact when killed.[1]
Underground campsites
The mod adds a new underground campsite structure. Mimics occasionally spawn there in place of a chest, so be careful before you open anything that looks like loot.[1]
The mod's own project page says an up-to-date list of where each item can be found is kept on the Artifacts wiki on GitHub.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm from the sources where Artifacts fits in the pack's progression. No quests or ATM Star path steps involving this mod were found, so treat it as optional exploration loot.
How do you get started with Artifacts?
2 parts
Here's the thing to know first: Artifacts is about exploration, not crafting. The mod adds powerful treasure items that cannot be crafted, so there's no crafting chain to follow. Your first steps are about where to look.[1]
Where to look first
- Open chests in vanilla structures. Each artifact only appears in a few specific chests, so check lots of them.[1]
- Try archaeology. Artifacts can come out of suspicious sand and gravel.[1][3]
- Look for the underground campsite structure the mod adds. Campsites hold chests, but sometimes a mimic takes a chest's place.[1][3]
- Fight mimics carefully. They attack players who get too close, but they always drop a random artifact when killed.[1]
- Keep an eye on skeletons, zombies and piglins. They can very rarely spawn wearing an artifact.[1][3]
The one craftable item: Eternal Steak
The only in-pack recipes for this mod are for Eternal Steak. You cook Everlasting Beef to get it, and a campfire, a furnace or a smoker will all do the job.[4]
Campfire cooking turns Everlasting Beef into Eternal Steak.
Furnace smelting gives the same result.
A smoker works too.
How does Artifacts work?
4 parts
Artifacts is a mod of treasure items that you can't craft, plus an underground campsite structure. So this section is about how you find artifacts and how this pack tunes them.[1]
Where artifacts come from
Artifacts turn up in chests in vanilla structures, through archaeology, or very rarely worn by entities. The mod also adds an underground campsite structure. Sometimes a mimic spawns there instead of a chest. It attacks players who get too close, and it always drops a random artifact when killed.[1]
This pack's world generation settings
- artifactRarity is set to 400. Values above 1 make artifacts rarer in chests, and doubling the value makes them roughly twice as hard to find. Setting it to 10000 stops them appearing as chest loot.[5]
- archaeologyChance is 0.0625, the chance that suspicious sand or gravel gives an artifact.[5]
- entityEquipmentChance is 0.0002, the chance that a skeleton, zombie or piglin spawns with an artifact equipped.[5]
- campsite.campsiteCount is 40 attempts per chunk. Campsites spawn between campsite.minY -60 and campsite.maxY 40.[5]
- campsite.mimicChance is 0.3, the probability that a campsite has a mimic instead of a chest. Campsites may contain light-emitting blocks (campsite.allowLightSources) and may use wooden chests from other mods (campsite.useModdedChests).[5]
Everlasting Beef and Eternal Steak
In this pack Everlasting Beef has a drop rate of 0 from cows and mooshrooms (everlasting_beef.dropRate), and its everlasting_beef.generateAsLoot option is false. So you won't get it from normal loot or cow farming.[6]
The pack does add another source. The Goat event spawns a Quantum Goat near you, and its reward pool lists the Everlasting Beef as a very rare drop. The reward drops if you kill the goat, or when its timer runs out while it is still alive.[7]
Once you have the beef, you can cook it into Eternal Steak in a furnace, a smoker or a campfire.[4]
Furnace version: smelts the beef into the steak.
Smoker version: smokes the beef into the steak.
Campfire version: cooks the beef into the steak.
Both foods are enabled and share a 15 second cooldown after being eaten (eternal_steak.cooldown and everlasting_beef.cooldown).[6]
Pack tuning of individual artifacts
- The Chorus Totem has a teleportation chance of 1 when you die (chorus_totem.teleportationChance, a probability between 0 and 1). It restores 10 health (chorus_totem.healthRestored), is consumed on use (chorus_totem.consumeOnUse is true) and has a cooldown of 0 (chorus_totem.cooldown).[6]
- The Helium Flamingo gives 8 seconds of flight (helium_flamingo.flightDuration), then needs 15 seconds to recharge (helium_flamingo.rechargeDuration). It has a 3 second cooldown when you stop flying (helium_flamingo.cooldown).[6]
- The Warp Drive costs 4 hunger points per Ender Pearl throw (warp_drive.hungerCost), and the pearls aren't consumed or damaging to you.[6]
- The Antidote Vessel caps negative effects at 5 seconds (antidote_vessel.maxEffectDuration).[6]
- The Crystal Heart adds 10 extra health points (crystal_heart.healthBonus).[6]
Every other artifact has its own entry in the items config, covering numbers like bonuses, chances and cooldowns. Many of the pendant and necklace cooldowns are set to 0 in this pack.[6]
How do you progress through Artifacts?
This is a short section, and I'd rather be upfront than invent a tier ladder. The recipe data for this mod in the pack doesn't show a tiered progression for Artifacts.[4]
The only in-pack crafting data available is for Eternal Steak. The pack lets you make it in a campfire, in a furnace, or in a smoker. These are all mod recipes, and each one gives the same result.[4]
Campfire cooking version of the Eternal Steak recipe.
Furnace smelting version of the same recipe.
Smoker version of the same recipe.
Since every one of these recipes produces the same item, you can use whichever cooking block you already have set up. The recipe blocks above show the exact in-pack inputs.[4]
Which Artifacts config options matter?
5 parts
Artifacts has three config files in this pack: client.toml, general.toml and items.toml. Here are the settings you're most likely to care about, with the exact values the pack uses.[5][6][8]
Finding artifacts
- artifactRarity is 400. Values above 1 make artifacts rarer in chests, and doubling the value makes them roughly twice as hard to find. Setting it to 10000 stops artifacts appearing as chest loot.[5]
- archaeologyChance is 0.0625. That is the chance an artifact generates in suspicious sand or gravel.[5]
- entityEquipmentChance is 0.0002. That is the chance a skeleton, zombie or piglin spawns with an artifact equipped.[5]
Underground campsites
- campsite.campsiteCount is 40. That is how many times a campsite attempts to generate per chunk, and setting it to 0 turns campsites off.[5]
- Campsites spawn between campsite.minY at -60 and campsite.maxY at 40.[5]
- campsite.mimicChance is 0.3. That is the probability a campsite holds a mimic instead of a chest.[5]
- campsite.useModdedChests and campsite.allowLightSources are both true, so campsites can use wooden chests from other mods and can contain light-emitting blocks.[5]
Items the pack turns off or restricts
- scarf_of_invisibility.enabled is false, so the Scarf of Invisibility does not make you invisible in this pack. Its scarf_of_invisibility.generateAsLoot is also false, so it isn't found in structures or dropped by entities.[6]
- The Everlasting Beef has everlasting_beef.generateAsLoot set to false and everlasting_beef.dropRate set to 0, so it won't turn up as loot or drop from cows and mooshrooms. It can still be eaten (everlasting_beef.enabled is true) with a everlasting_beef.cooldown of 15 seconds.[6]
Item tuning worth knowing
- Chorus Totem: it is consumed on use (chorus_totem.consumeOnUse is true), always activates on death (chorus_totem.teleportationChance is 1), and chorus_totem.healthRestored is 10 health points.[6]
- Helium Flamingo: helium_flamingo.flightDuration is 8 seconds, helium_flamingo.rechargeDuration is 15 seconds, and helium_flamingo.cooldown is 3 seconds.[6]
- Snorkel: snorkel.isInfinite is false, so the water breathing effect depletes. snorkel.waterBreathingDuration is 30.[6]
- Digging Claws raise your mining level to stone (digging_claws.toolTier).[6]
- Warp Drive: ender pearls aren't consumed (warp_drive.enabled is true), and each throw costs 4 hunger points (warp_drive.hungerCost) with no cooldown (warp_drive.cooldown is 0).[6]
Client settings
enableCooldownOverlay is false, so the cooldown display next to the hotbar is off. If you turn it on, cooldownOverlayOffset is 10 pixels from the hotbar, and negative values move it to the left. Tooltips (showTooltips) and first-person gloves (showFirstPersonGloves) are both on.[8]
What changed in Artifacts between versions?
5 parts
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Artifacts 13.2.5, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier. I don't have any pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[9]
13.2.5
13.2.3
- Fixed the missing mimic texture when Lootr is installed.[11]
- Fixed artifacts not working properly when equipped in a trinket slot.[11]
13.2.1
- Fixed the snorkel granting infinite water breathing when using the Merling origin.[12]
- NeoForge: fixed gloves not displaying in first person when using Trinkets with Sinytra Connector.[12]
- NeoForge: fixed the umbrella not blocking sunlight for origins affected by it.[12]
- Updated the pt_br translation file.[12]
13.2.0
- Added a "minimalist campsites" config option that replaces underground campsites with a single chest or mimic.[13]
- Added the Chorus Totem to the hardcorerevival:passthrough_dead_when_held item tag.[13]
- Updated the pt_br and ko_kr translation files.[13]
13.1.0
- Added config options to disable compatibility with Accessories, Curios or Trinkets individually.[14]
- Trinkets only: added a config option that adds a face slot and moves the Snorkel and Night Vision Goggles to the face slot type.[14]
- Curios and Trinkets: added a config option that allows any artifact to be equipped in any slot.[14]
- NeoForge: fixed the Vampiric Glove not absorbing health from killing blows.[14]
The changelogs describe these as mod changes. They don't say whether StoneBlock 4 changed any of the new config option values, so check the pack's config files before assuming a default.[13][14]
