Enchanted

Enchanted is a mod heavily inspired by the old Witchery mod. While the Witch's Oven is the iconic block of the mod, to really get started you'll need to take a dip into herbology.

Asks for: Clay Jar, Witch's Oven

Using the Witch's Oven to cook saplings, logs, and foods allows for the collection of various fumes in jars for magical use, mostly saplings. Oak, Birch, and Rowan saplings have fumes that are key to progression, but others will be wanted later.

Asks for: Breath of the Goddess, Horned One's Exhale, Foul Fume, Hint of Rebirth, Odour of Purity, Reek of Misfortune

The Arthana is a magical dagger that is proficient in obtaining arcane materials from slain creatures. In addition to providing the chance for special drops from bats, creepers, and wolves, it gives skeletons both regular and withered an additional chance to drop their skulls intact.

Asks for: Arthana, Creeper Heart, Tongue of Dog, Wool of Bat

The Kettle is used to craft many items and potions and needs some heat underneath it for proper brewing, be sure to place it over a Campfire or a similar heat source. You'll know it's working if a bucket of water put into it begins to boil. Ingredients need to be dropped into it in a specific order as shown by each recipe. Once the particles stop changing colors, Right-click to extract the product of your brew. If you do mess up a recipe, you can clear out the Kettle using an empty bucket.

Asks for: Kettle

The Witch's Oven is capable of collecting fumes from its processing, but this chance is not ideal. Using Fume Funnels on either side of the oven will drastically raise this chance. A third one can be added on top, but this is just decorative. As a final upgrade, Fume Filters can be placed on the two Funnels to get these fumes every time.

Asks for: Fume Filter, Fume Funnel

More soup than redstone, Redstone Soup serves as an advanced ingredient for other key recipes. Not useful for much else on its own. This one is safe to drink, and can provide a small buffer of extra health for a short time when drunk, but might be a little expensive for such utility.

Asks for: Redstone Soup

Growing a little bit of everything is important as you progress deeper into Enchanted. Herbs are standard crops, but there are a few notes: Snowbell can often be harvested for snowballs, even in warm climates. Water Artichoke needs to be planted on still water. Mandrakes are occasionally harvested without incident, but Earmuffs are heavily suggested as they tend to sprout up out of the ground when plucked, and will run around with a dizzying scream until slain.

Asks for: Belladonna Seeds, Mandrake Seeds, Snowbell Seeds, Water Artichoke Seeds

While most Enchanted herbs are important for brewing purposes, Belladonna, Snowbell, Water Artichoke, and Mandrake seeds are needed to make this Anointing Paste. This will be used to craft Poppets later, but for now it's needed to make the Witch's Cauldron.

Asks for: Anointing Paste

The next step in Enchanted's progression is obtaining Mutandis. Remember the Witch's Oven? You'll need it for one of the ingredients! Be sure to extract all six products to clear out the cauldron, or there will be mixed ingredients next time. Mutandis is used on various small plants like saplings to mutate them into different forms. The process is based on one or more surrounding plants, so you may need to set up a proper space to mutate them. Check the 'Mutated Plants' section of the Herbology chapter in your guidebook for more details. Note: bone meal and similar effects work against mutandis, don't force the change.

Asks for: Mutandis

With a bit of luck and maybe more than a bit of Mutandis, you'll be able to get your hands on some of the unique saplings for this mod using oak, birch, or acacia. Be sure to grow these into proper trees for farming once you obtain a sapling, as it could take even more mutandis to get them again. Note: Bone meal and similar effects work against mutandis and grow the saplings before they mutate, don't force the change.

Asks for: Alder Sapling, Hawthorn Sapling, Rowan Sapling

Made from the fumes of oak and birch saplings and Rowan wood, the Altar is a 2x3 structure enhanced by items placed on it and buffed by nature in the surrounding 16 blocks. There are three categories of enhancing items, which each have different tiers. Only the highest tier of a category will count for determining an Altar's power. This power is used by other witchy preparation equipment in the Altar's area, such as the Distillery or Kettle, which may require certain power levels to be met.

Asks for: Altar

A skeleton skull gives +1x base power and recharge speed A wither skeleton skull +2x base power and recharge speed A player head gives +2.5x base power and 3x recharge speed

Asks for: Player Head, Skeleton Skull, Wither Skeleton Skull

A torch gives +0.5 recharge speed A candle gives +1 recharge speed A Candelabra gives +2 recharge speed

Asks for: Candelabra, Torch

The key point of progress. Attuned Stones are made using Whiffs of Magic and diamonds, and making this item allows progression into even more mod mechanics such as Poppets and Circle Magic.

Asks for: Attuned Stone

Now that you have access to Attuned Stones, the Distillery can expand your available resources both by creating new kinds and by obtaining Witch's Oven fumes through alternate methods. As with the Oven, this process takes quite a few clay jars. Note that a Distillery needs to be within the area of an Altar's power to function.

Asks for: Distillery

Poppets are a form of protection, redirecting misfortune to help or sometimes harm the target person. Once a Poppet is made, it must be bound in a Spinning Wheel to set what sort of misfortune will be redirected, or upgraded into a better form before receiving these binds. Once the type of misfortune is set, Poppets are bound to their target by holding the Poppet in the main hand, a filled Taglock Kit in the other, and using them together until the bond is made. A basic poppet has a 30% chance for the trigger to fail, but upgrades negate this. Sturdy Poppets can trigger twice, while Infused Poppets will have enhanced effects. Poppets can be held onto or placed in a Poppet Shelf to function wherever a target is.

Asks for: Poppet, Poppet Shelf, Spinning Wheel, Taglock Kit

A standard chalice gives +1x base power A filled chalice gives +2x base power, and is made by using Redstone Soup on a standard chalice

Asks for: Chalice, Chalice (Filled)

Another possibility with mutandis is the creation of non-sapling Enchanted plants. These plants are herbs in their own rights, and can be farmed by letting them spread over time similar to mushrooms. Spanish Moss plays a key role in creating Poppets, so any interested witch should keep their eye out for it when rolling the mutation dice. Ember Moss contains large amounts of heat, and sets fire to any creature that steps in it. Glint Weed...well, it glows. Blood Poppies are mostly decorative, but using an empty taglock on one that someone has passed through will collect a sample of the blood.

Asks for: Blood Poppy, Ember Moss, Glint Weed, Spanish Moss

The Distillery unlocks a lot of new products. Some of the key ingredients for progression are Gypsum and Tear of the Goddess, which are required for Circle Magic.

Asks for: Demonic Blood, Diamond Vapour, Ender Dew, Gypsum, Oil of Vitriol, Refined Evil

Circle magic is performed by using Golden Chalk to place a central glyph as the 'heart' of the circle, and using Ritual Chalk to form circles around it. To perform a rite or ritual, drop all relevant items onto the center glyph and activate it with right-click. Some of these may require altar power, or a charged Attuned Stone to ignore the power requirement. See the "Attuned Stone Charged" quest for details on that. Most rituals only require a single circle, formed in a 7x7 ring (one diagonal) around the heart. A representation of this is shown below. XXX X X X X X X X X X X X XXX A few advanced rituals may require a second circle with a gap from the first, forming an 11x11 ring around the heart (two diagonal). If you would like to pick up a circle and move it somewhere else, you can do so with a rite. A Circle Talisman, redstone dust, and some altar power will condense the circle into the Talisman. Without an altar, a Talisman, glowstone dust, and an Attuned Stone Charged can be used. To put this circle back down, simply right-click the inscribed Talisman on the ground in a properly cleared area. ...what's the Broom for? Neatly sweeping up misplaced chalk, obviously. No other reason...

Asks for: Broom, Golden Chalk, Ritual Chalk

Attuned Stones (Charged) are a key point of progression in circle magic, as they allow a witch to perform certain rituals and rites without setting up a new Altar at the circle's location. This remote ritual will deplete the Attuned Stone's charge rather than consuming the item entirely, acting as a reusable 'battery' in a way. The charging rite itself does consume the other items in the rite however so the storage is not entirely free. Charging the Attuned Stone requires an advanced rite (2 circles) and an Altar nearby with at least 2000 power. This is easily enough achieved with upgraded enhancements and a few nice trees in the area.

Asks for: Attuned Stone (Charged), Quicklime, Wood Ash, Glowstone Dust, Redstone

Well, maybe the Broom can be used for something else too. By using an advanced Rite, Flying Ointment made in a Kettle can be infused into a broom to make the Enchanted Broomstick! This Broomstick when set in the world can be mounted like a boat or horse, and can be used to fly around the world at a steady reliable rate. 'Jump' to ascend, 'sprint' to descend, and 'sneak' to dismount is its default handling method. A Broomstick dismounted in the air will support its user until they're no longer on top, in which case it will descend on its own.

Asks for: Enchanted Broomstick, Flying Ointment
