What is TrimsEffects?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
TrimsEffects expands the armor trims Mojang added to the game so that each trim can grant an effect while you wear it. The pack includes version 2.1.1 of the mod, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[1][2]
How it works by default
These are the defaults described on the mod's project page. The sources here don't show any change the pack makes to them.[1]
- Every trim gives an effect, whatever material it is combined with. Resin is included and gives night vision instead of the trim's usual effect.[1]
- Wearing three armor pieces with the same trim gives a level 1 effect. Wearing all four gives level 2.[1]
- Dune is the example the mod's own page uses. It gives Speed, level 1 with three pieces and level 2 with four.[1]
- One trim can give several effects at once, and mobs wearing trimmed armor also receive effects unless that is turned off in the settings.[1]
Other trims map to effects like this: Spire gives Strength, Eye gives Regeneration, Snout gives Fire Resistance, and Silence gives Health Boost. Tide gives Conduit Power, Coast gives Water Breathing, and Wayfinder gives Slow Falling.[1]
The mod also has a large settings file. According to its page, you can configure almost any feature, including the piece counts, the effects per trim, mob effects and compatibility with other mods' trims and items.[1]
How do you get started with TrimsEffects?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
TrimsEffects turns the armor trims from vanilla Minecraft into more than a cosmetic. Each trim can now grant a potion-style effect while you wear it. There's nothing new to craft to get started: you use the trims and armor you already know.[1]
Step by step
- Pick the effect you want from the trim list below, then put that trim on your armor. By default, every trim material works, not just diamond and netherite.[1]
- Wear three pieces with the same trim to get a level 1 effect by default.[1]
- Wear all four pieces with the same trim to get a level 2 effect by default.[1]
- Want night vision instead? Combine the trim with the resin material. By default, resin replaces the trim's normal effect with night vision.[1]
Which trim gives which effect
These are the mod's default effects. A good first pick is Dune for Speed. Spire gives Strength, Eye gives Regeneration, and Snout gives Fire Resistance.[1]
- Spire: Strength. Eye: Regeneration. Snout: Fire Resistance.[1]
- Rib: Haste. Vex: Invisibility. Ward: Absorption.[1]
- Tide: Conduit Power. Wild: Hero of the Village. Coast: Water Breathing.[1]
- Dune: Speed. Sentry: Resistance. Wayfinder: Slow Falling.[1]
- Shaper: Luck. Silence: Health Boost. Raiser: Saturation.[1]
- Host: Glowing. Flow: Jump Boost. Bolt: Dolphins Grace.[1]
Almost everything here is configurable: the piece counts, the levels, and whether one trim gives several effects at once. The mod's own description says so, but I can't confirm which values this pack actually uses.[1]
Unverified The sources don't show any pack-specific recipes, quests or config values for this mod, so I haven't added recipe blocks. Everything above is the mod's default behavior, and the pack may have changed some of it.
How does TrimsEffects work?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
TrimsEffects doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling. It works entirely through the armor trims you already know from vanilla Minecraft. Each trim can grant a potion-style effect while you wear it, so the core mechanics are about which trims you wear and how many pieces match.[1]
How trim effects are triggered
By default, wearing three armor pieces with the same trim gives you a level 1 effect. Wearing all four pieces with the same trim raises it to level 2. The mod's own description uses the dune trim as the example: three pieces give Speed level 1, and four give Speed level 2.[1]
Every trim gives an effect no matter which material it's combined with. Earlier versions only worked with diamond and netherite by default, but now all minerals are valid, and resin has been added too.[1]
Default effect for each trim
- Spire: Strength[1]
- Eye: Regeneration[1]
- Snout: Fire Resistance[1]
- Rib: Haste[1]
- Vex: Invisibility[1]
- Ward: Absorption[1]
- Tide: Conduit Power[1]
- Wild: Hero of the Village[1]
- Coast: Water Breathing[1]
- Dune: Speed[1]
- Sentry: Resistance[1]
- Wayfinder: Slow Falling[1]
- Shaper: Luck[1]
- Silence: Health Boost[1]
- Raiser: Saturation[1]
- Host: Glowing[1]
- Flow: Jump Boost[1]
- Bolt: Dolphins Grace[1]
Other behavior
- Effects can be combined. The same trim can give several effects at once if the settings allow it.[1]
- Mobs wearing trimmed armor also receive effects by default, so enemies with trims can buff themselves. The mod lets you disable this.[1]
- The mod is designed to work with many other mods and items, including mods that add new trims or trim-related features. Support depends on the mod in question, and some may not be compatible.[1]
Unverified The threshold of three or four pieces, the effect levels, the trim-to-effect list and the resin rule are the mod's defaults as described on its project page. No config files for this mod were found in the pack, so it isn't confirmed whether this pack changes any of these values. Which mod version this pack ships is also unconfirmed, so test in-game before relying on a specific effect.
What changed in TrimsEffects between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships TrimsEffects 2.1.1. The mod was already in the pack by version 1.0.3 or earlier, so 2.1.1 is the version you are playing with.[3]
TrimsEffects 2.1.1 (MC 1.21.1)
This is the mod's own changelog for the version in the pack, and it changes how trim effects are earned. Here are the notable points:[4]
- By default you now need 3 armor pieces with the same trim for a level 1 effect, and 4 pieces with the same trim for a level 2 effect. Wearing only two matching pieces gives you no effect. This is configurable.[4]
- There is a new option to turn the old system back on, where the effect level comes from the trim material.[4]
- The matchingEffectLevels option now accepts level zero to disable effects. For example, you can make effects only apply when the player wears a full set of armor with the same trim.[4]
- The resinGivesNightVision option was replaced by materialEffectOverrides, which lets you override the effect based on the trim material.[4]
- Armor description inconsistencies were fixed, new clarifying comments were added to the configuration file, and there were some other minor adjustments.[4]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so it is unverified whether the pack changed any TrimsEffects defaults, such as the matching requirements, from the mod's own values.

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as trimeffects, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
