What is Sable CleanUp?

3 parts

Sable CleanUp is an operator toolkit for finding, inspecting and cleaning up Sable sub-levels. Those are the physics contraptions behind Create: Aeronautics and other Sable-based content. Airships and rovers pile up over a server's lifetime, and this mod gives you one GUI to see every sub-level in the dimension, including ones sitting in unloaded chunks.[1]

The pack includes version 0.3.0 of the mod.[2]

Where it sits in the pack

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest chapter, group or position for this mod in the pack's quest book, and they do not show whether the ATM Star path uses it. Check the pack's quest book in-game for that.

How you use it

Run /sablecleanup (you need operator permission level 2), or bind a key under Controls, then Sable Cleanup Tools. The panel shows a scrollable list of every sub-level in the current dimension, with its id, name and a lifetime counter. It also has a live 3D preview, so you can see what a contraption is before you touch it.[1]

Unloaded sub-levels are listed too and marked (unloaded). When you click an action, the mod force-loads the chunk just long enough to act.[1]

What you can do

  • Teleport to a contraption, or use Move Here to bring the sub-level to you.[1]
  • Delete a sub-level. It refuses if something is still physically attached or an active Create contraption is inside.[1]
  • Freeze or unfreeze it with a physics constraint that survives restarts.[1]
  • Boot or un-boot it, a moderation lockdown that forces Freeze on until you un-boot it.[1]
  • Rename it, or export it as a Create-compatible schematic (this needs Create).[1]
  • Disassemble it, which moves the blocks back into the plain world.[1]
  • Use multi-select checkboxes to delete, freeze or boot a whole batch at once.[1]
Tip: Hold shift over an option in the GUI to see a description of what it does.[1]
Watch out: Freeze is a soft physics-constraint pin, not a true engine-level pause. Also, with an Iris shaderpack active the 3D diagram may show some blocks as invisible, so switch to internal or vanilla shaders while using the panel.[1]

How do you get started with Sable CleanUp?

2 parts

Good news first: according to the mod's project page, Sable Cleanup is an operator tool, not something you build up to, and crafting is not part of getting started with it. It finds and manages Sable sub-levels, the physics contraptions (airships, rovers and similar) behind Create: Aeronautics and other Sable-based content. The only thing the page marks as coming soon is a new demo video, so everything below describes the mod as the page lists it today.[1]

Open the panel

  1. The project page says you need operator rights (permission level 2). Run /sablecleanup in chat to open the panel.[1]
  2. If you'd rather use a key, the page says you can bind one in the controls menu under the Sable Cleanup Tools category. The key is called Open Sable Cleanup List.[1][3]
  3. The panel shows a scrollable list of every sub-level in your current dimension. Each row shows an id, a name and a lifetime or created-at counter.[1]
  4. Click a row to check its live 3D preview. You can drag to orbit and scroll to zoom, so you see what it really is before you touch it.[1]
  5. Pick an action. The page says holding shift over an option gives a description of what it does.[1]

The project page says the list includes sub-levels in unloaded chunks too, marked (unloaded). Clicking an action on one force-loads its chunk just long enough to act, then lets it go back to sleep.[1]

Rows are colour coded to help with moderation. A sub-level you've flagged as ignored shows green, so you can tell what you've already reviewed.[1]

What you can do with a sub-level

  • Teleport: the page lists this as jumping to the contraption.[1]
  • Freeze or Unfreeze: pins it in place with a real physics constraint that, per the page, survives restarts.[1]
  • Boot or Un-boot: a moderation lockdown that forces Freeze on, so something a staff member is reviewing can't move or vanish.[1]
  • Rename: sets the sub-level's display name, as the page describes it.[1]
  • Save as schematic: exports its blocks to a Create-compatible .nbt schematic. The page says this needs Create, though everything else works without it.[1]
  • Disassemble: moves the blocks back into the plain world, which the page describes as the reverse of assembling a contraption.[1]
  • Ignore: marks a sub-level as reviewed and fine to leave alone, according to the page.[1]
  • Delete: removes a sub-level, as the page lists it.[1]
Watch out: Delete refuses to run if something is still physically attached or an active Create contraption is inside, so you can't silently destroy those too. Disassemble has similar guards against destroying attached contraptions or in-plot entities. Freeze or Boot a contraption first if you only want it to stop moving.[1]

The mod's project page lists Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.228 or newer, and Sable 1.2.2 or newer as requirements. It says the mod talks only to Sable's own API, so it works with any Sable-based contraption, not just Create: Aeronautics.[1]

Unverified No crafting recipes, quests or config options for this mod could be confirmed in this pack, so there are no recipe blocks here.

How does Sable CleanUp work?

4 parts

Sable CleanUp is an operator toolkit, not a machine mod, so there is no power, fluid or item handling here. The project page describes it as one GUI for finding and managing Sable sub-levels, the physics contraptions behind Create: Aeronautics and other Sable-based content. It says the mod only talks to Sable's own API, so it works with any Sable-based contraption. The only thing the page marks as coming soon is a new demo video. Everything below is what the page describes the mod doing today.[1]

Opening the panel

Run /sablecleanup, which needs operator permission level 2. You can also bind a key under Controls, in the Sable Cleanup Tools category. The key is called "Open Sable Cleanup List".[1][3]

What the list shows

  • The project page says the panel has a scrollable list of every sub-level in the current dimension, with its id, name and a lifetime / created-at counter.[1]
  • Sub-levels in unloaded chunks are listed too and marked "(unloaded)". The page says that clicking an action on one force-loads its chunk just long enough to act, then lets it go back to sleep.[1]
  • Rows are colored for quick moderation. The page says red is for a sub-level that has also gone a long time without moving, and green is for one you flagged "ignore".[1]
  • A live 3D diagram preview with drag-to-orbit lets you see what a contraption is before you touch it.[1]
  • You can sort by Age, Name, Last Active and Size, and search the list.[1]
  • Every row has a checkbox, and Ctrl+A selects all. The page says this lets you delete, freeze or boot a whole batch at once.[1]

The page says no config is needed beyond two client-side list-coloring thresholds, LONG_LIFE_DAYS and NO_MOVEMENT_DAYS, in the generated config. It also says you can hold shift over an option in the GUI to see a description of what it does.[1]

Actions

  • Teleport: jump to a contraption's plot, or use Move Here to bring the sub-level to you.[1]
  • Delete: removes a sub-level. The page says it refuses if something is still physically attached or an active Create contraption is inside, so you can't silently destroy those as well.[1]
  • Freeze / Unfreeze: pins the sub-level in place with a real physics constraint that, per the page, survives restarts.[1]
  • Boot / Un-boot: a moderation lockdown. The page says it forces Freeze on, and also stops block-breaking inside, until you un-boot it, so anything a staff member is reviewing can't move or vanish.[1]
  • Rename: sets the sub-level's display name.[1]
  • Save as schematic: exports the blocks to a Create-compatible .nbt schematic. The page says this needs Create, though everything else works without it, and that you get a warning first if the contraption has an active bearing.[1]
  • Disassemble: moves the blocks back into the plain world, the reverse of assembling a contraption. The page says it guards against destroying attached contraptions or in-plot entities.[1]
  • Ignore flags: mark a sub-level as reviewed and fine to leave alone.[1]

The page also lists a schematic browser, so you can browse, preview and manage the schematics you've exported without leaving the panel.[1]

Known limitations

  • The page lists it as single-dimension: the list covers only the dimension where you ran the command.[1]
  • Freeze is a soft physics-constraint pin, not a true engine-level pause, because the page says Sable has no per-body pause.[1]
  • Shafts and cogwheels can look doubled in the 3D diagram. The page says this is cosmetic only.[1]
  • With an Iris shaderpack active, the diagram may show some blocks as invisible. The page suggests switching to internal or vanilla shaders while you use /sablecleanup.[1]

Which Sable CleanUp config options matter?

1 part

Sable CleanUp has very little to configure on the client side. The options that matter are the two that control the colour coding in the /sablecleanup list, which helps you spot sub-levels that are old or abandoned. Both live in the client config file.[1][4]

Moderation colouring

  • moderation_coloring.longLifeDays is set to 7 in this pack. A sub-level's row in the list turns orange once it has existed for at least that many days. The accepted range is 0.0 to 3,650.0.[4]
  • moderation_coloring.noMovementDays is set to 7 in this pack. On top of the long-life threshold, a row turns red once the sub-level has also gone at least that many days without moving. The accepted range is 0.0 to 3,650.0.[4]

The pack leaves both options at the mod default of 7, so you get the stock behaviour. In practice, an orange row means the sub-level is at least a week old, and a red row means it is also at least a week old and hasn't moved for a week.[4]

Tip: Movement is only checked when you open the list, not continuously. If you want fresh colours, close and reopen the list.[4]

To see the colours in action, run /sablecleanup, which needs operator permission level 2. You can also bind a key under Controls, in the Sable Cleanup Tools category.[1]

What changed in Sable CleanUp between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Sable CleanUp 0.3.0. The mod has been in the pack since Aero 1.5.1 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[2]

Sable CleanUp 0.3.0

The mod's own changelog calls 0.3.0 a huge update. Here is what it lists:[5]

  • A new schematic menu.[5]
  • Updated UI and UX.[5]
  • Bulk selection.[5]
  • Bulk actions.[5]
  • Quality of life fixes.[5]

The changelog doesn't go into more detail than that, so I can't tell you exactly how the new menu or the bulk tools work.[5]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so any changes between individual pack releases are not documented here.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as sablecleanup, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
