What is Just Another Mining Dimension?
Same as in the FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 guide
Just Another Mining Dimension is part of this pack. The pack ships version 26.1.1.1 (the file jamd-neo-26.1.1.1+mc26.1.1.jar), and the mod was already included in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[1]
The sources I have for this mod only cover that version and file information. They do not describe what the mod does in the pack, and they do not show any quest book placement for it, so I am leaving both out rather than guessing.[1]
How do you get started with Just Another Mining Dimension?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 guide
Just Another Mining Dimension adds a separate place to mine, and the mod's own advancement for it is called "Enter the Mining Dimension". There are three biomes: Mining, Nether Mining and End Mining. Each has its own portal block: Mining Portal, Nether Mining Portal and End Mining Portal.[2]
What you'll be mining for
The pack sets what generates in the Nether Mining and End Mining biomes in its config files. oreMultiplier and oreMultiplier are both set to 1.[3][4]
- The End Mining list is set in ores. It includes an End dimensional shard, Deepslate Platinum Ore, Ender Draconium Ore, and Productive Bees nests in End stone and obsidian.[3]
- The Nether Mining list is set in ores. It includes the Nether dimensional shard, Nether Draconium Ore, Nether Prosperity Ore, Nether Inferium Ore, Blazing Quartz Ore, plus ancient debris and the usual Nether quartz and gold ores.[4]
Unverified How to craft or activate the portals, and whether a quest leads you to this mod, is not shown in the sources here. The ore list for the main Mining biome is also not shown: it would be in config/jamd/mining.json, which was too large to include.
Which Just Another Mining Dimension config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 guide
This mod controls what generates in the Nether and End versions of the mining dimension, and every setting you will care about lives in two files: one for the Nether and one for the End. Each has an ore multiplier and a list of ore entries, so you can see exactly what spawns and how often.[3][4]
Ore multiplier
In this pack, oreMultiplier and oreMultiplier are both set to 1. Nothing is scaled up or down on top of the per-ore counts listed below.[3][4]
End ores
The End file's ores list has five entries. Here is how the pack sets the main ones.[3]
- Dimensional Shard Ore generates in end stone with a vein size of 10, a count of 8 and a height range of 2 to 80.[3]
- Platinum comes as Deepslate Platinum Ore and Endstone Platinum Ore, with a vein size of 5 and a count of 40. This entry has a 0.3 chance to discard a placement when it touches air.[3]
- Ender Draconium Ore has a vein size of 8, a count of 3 and a height range of 0 to 70.[3]
- Two Productive Bees nests (an end stone nest and an obsidian nest) each have a vein size of 4, a count of 2 and a height range of 0 to 60.[3]
Nether ores
The Nether file's ores list is much longer. It mixes modded ores, bee nests and vanilla terrain and ores. These are the ones you are most likely to hunt for.[4]
- Dimensional Shard Ore has a vein size of 8, a count of 8 and a height range of 2 to 40.[4]
- Nether Draconium Ore uses a rarity filter of 30 instead of a count. It has a large vein size of 32 and a height range of 4 to 16.[4]
- Nether Prosperity Ore has a vein size of 8, a count of 12 and a height range of 10 to 100.[4]
- Nether Inferium Ore has a vein size of 8, a count of 16 and the same 10 to 100 height range.[4]
- Blazing Quartz Ore has a vein size of 14 and a count of 3, and it spawns across a trapezoid height range from -16 to 112.[4]
- Ancient Debris has two entries. One has a vein size of 2 and spreads across nearly the whole height of the dimension. The other has a vein size of 3 and a trapezoid range from 8 to 24. Both have a discard-on-air chance of 1.[4]
Unverified Which of these values the pack changed from the mod's own defaults is not confirmed. The files show what the pack uses, but no default values were available to compare against.
