What is FishingOverhaul?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
FishingOverhaul turns fishing into a small minigame. When you pull in a fish, a circle appears with a fish swimming around it, and you need to time your catch.[1]
Right-click while the fish is inside the catch region (the green section) to get your loot. If you catch it inside the crit region, you get double loot, so it's worth waiting for the right moment.[1]
Who it's for
If you like fishing and want it to take a bit more skill than casting a line and waiting, this mod is for you. It doesn't add a new progression system. It changes how catching a fish works.[1]
Customizing and compatibility
Certain properties can be changed per fish using the fishing_index.json file. The mod is described as compatible with most other fishing mods, with explicit compatibility for Aquaculture 2.[1]
In this pack
The pack includes FishingOverhaul version 1.21.1-1.2.1.[2]
Unverified The sources don't show any pack-specific changes to this mod's configs or fishing_index.json, and they don't place it in a progression path. It is not on the ATM Star quest path, and no quests in this pack involve it.
How do you get started with FishingOverhaul?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
FishingOverhaul adds a small minigame to fishing. You don't have to craft anything special to get started, so the first step is simply to grab a fishing rod and head to the water.[1]
How the minigame works
When you pull in a fish, a minigame appears: a fish swimming around a circle. Your job is to right-click while the fish is inside the catch region. Do that and you get your loot.[1]
There's also a smaller crit region. If you land your click while the fish is inside it, you get double loot.[1]
- Cast your line and wait for a bite, then pull the fish in.[1]
- Watch the fish swim around the circle that appears.[1]
- Right-click when the fish is inside the catch region to get your loot.[1]
- For the best reward, time your click so the fish is inside the crit region and you get double loot.[1]
Tweaking fish behavior
The mod lets certain properties be changed per fish through a file called fishing_index.json. The mod's own guide for that file covers the details. It's mostly useful if you're tuning the experience rather than just playing.[1]
The mod is meant to work with most other fishing mods, and it explicitly supports Aquaculture 2.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes, quests or changed values for this mod, so there is no crafting order to follow here. Whether the pack alters the minigame's defaults is also unverified.
How does FishingOverhaul work?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
FishingOverhaul doesn't add machines, multiblocks or power systems. As described, it adds a minigame on top of normal fishing, so the core mechanic is a quick skill check every time you pull a fish.[1]
The fishing minigame
When you pull a fish, a minigame appears: a fish swimming around a circle. Your job is to right-click while the fish is inside the catch region. Hit it in time and you get your loot.[1]
The circle also has a crit region. If you catch the fish while it's inside that part, you get double loot, so it's worth waiting for the right moment.[1]
Per-fish tuning
Certain properties of the minigame can be changed per fish using a file called fishing_index.json. The mod's project page points to a separate guide for the details of that file.[1]
Compatibility with other fishing mods
The mod should be compatible with most other fishing mods, and it has explicit compatibility with Aquaculture 2.[1]
Unverified The sources don't say whether this pack changes any minigame values or fishing_index.json entries, and they don't cover automating the minigame (for example with machines or fake players). Treat both as unconfirmed until you test them in your own world.
What changed in FishingOverhaul between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships FishingOverhaul 1.21.1-1.2.1. The mod has been in the pack since Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so you've had it from the very early releases.[3]
FishingOverhaul 1.21.1-1.2.1
This is the version your pack uses, and the mod's changelog for it lists two changes:[3][4]
- Fix speed issues.[4]
- Stop game if menu is escaped. That is the changelog's wording, and it doesn't say more about what exactly happens.[4]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so any changes to FishingOverhaul between individual pack releases are unverified.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as fishingoverhaul, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
