What is Charm of Undying?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Charm of Undying adds a dedicated Charm slot to your player inventory, and the Totem of Undying can live in it. While the totem sits in that slot, you get the same death protection as if you were holding it. No more remembering to hold a totem, and no more giving up a hotbar or inventory slot just to carry one around.[1]
You can put the totem into the Charm slot directly, or use the totem in-hand to have it go into the slot.[1]
The mod was formerly known as Curio of Undying and Trinket of Undying. If you see those names in older guides or videos, it's the same idea.[1]
Who it's for
It's for anyone who wants a safety net without the inventory management. If you tend to explore, fight or tinker with risky machines, having a totem always equipped is a handy quality-of-life upgrade.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Charm of Undying 9.1.0+1.21.1, the NeoForge build. It has been part of the pack since version 1.22.0 or earlier.[2]
Unverified Where the mod fits in the pack's progression is unverified. No sources describe any quests, in-jar guidebook entries or progression steps for it, so don't count on a specific stage where it unlocks. It also isn't confirmed to be part of the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with Charm of Undying?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news: there's very little to set up here. Charm of Undying adds one new slot to your player inventory, the Charm slot, and that slot accepts a Totem of Undying.[1]
While a totem sits in that slot, you get the same death protection as if you were holding it. You don't have to remember to hold it, and you don't have to give up a hotbar or inventory slot to keep one around.[1]
Your first steps
- Get hold of a Totem of Undying. This is the only item the mod works with, so it's the first thing you need.[1]
- Put the totem into the Charm slot in your player inventory. You can place it there directly, or use the totem in hand and it will go into the slot.[1]
- That's it. The totem now protects you from death while it stays in the slot.[1]
Optional: how the totem looks on you
The mod has display settings for the equipped totem. One option turns rendering the totem on players on or off, and there are separate horizontal, vertical and z-axis offsets for where it is drawn. They only change appearance, so you can ignore them if you're happy with the default look.[3]
Unverified The sources don't say how to obtain a Totem of Undying in this pack, whether the pack changes the mod's behavior, or which config file holds the display options. There are also no pack quests or recipes for this mod that I can confirm, so this section has no recipe blocks.
How does Charm of Undying work?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Charm of Undying is a small mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks or automation to set up. It adds a new Charm slot to your player inventory where a Totem of Undying can live, so you don't have to hold it.[1]
How the Charm slot works
You can put the totem into the Charm slot directly, or by using the totem while holding it. The project page says the slot is built on the Curios API on Forge, and on the Trinkets API on Fabric and Quilt.[1]
While a totem sits in the slot, you get the same death protection as if you were holding it. You don't need to remember to keep it in your hand, and you don't have to give up a hotbar or inventory slot to carry one.[1]
Display settings in this pack
The mod's config only controls how the equipped totem is drawn on your player. The pack leaves rendering on, with renderTotem set to true.[3][4]
- xOffset is the horizontal offset for rendering the totem on the player. The pack sets it to 0, and it accepts values from -100.0 to 100.0.[3][4]
- yOffset is the vertical offset. The pack sets it to 0, with the same range of -100.0 to 100.0.[3][4]
- zOffset is the z-axis offset. The pack sets it to 0, with the same range of -100.0 to 100.0.[3][4]
Which Charm of Undying config options matter?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The pack's config file for Charm of Undying, config/charmofundying-server.toml, only covers how the equipped totem is rendered on players. Here is how the pack sets each option.[4]
Totem rendering
- renderTotem is set to true in this pack. When it is enabled, the equipped totem is rendered on players. Set it to false if you want to turn that off.[4]
- xOffset is set to 0 in this pack. It is the horizontal offset for rendering the totem on the player, and the allowed range is -100.0 to 100.0.[4]
- yOffset is set to 0 in this pack. It is the vertical offset for rendering the totem, with the same range of -100.0 to 100.0.[4]
- zOffset is set to 0 in this pack. It is the z-axis offset for rendering the totem, again from -100.0 to 100.0.[4]
If you want to move where the equipped totem is drawn on your character, the offset options above are the ones to adjust.[4]
What changed in Charm of Undying between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Charm of Undying 9.1.0+1.21.1, using the NeoForge build (charmofundying-neoforge-9.1.0+1.21.1.jar). The mod was already in the pack by Aero 1.0.3 or earlier.[5]
9.1.0+1.21.1 (2024.10.25)
This is the mod's own changelog for the version the pack uses. It lists these changes:[5][6]
- Added: compatibility with Totem of Infinity.[6]
- Added: the tr_tr localization.[6]
- Changed: updated to Minecraft 1.21.1.[6]
That changelog is a copy covering only the most recent mod version, so older mod releases are not covered here.[6]
Unverified Whether the FTB Skies 2: Aero pack changelogs mention Charm of Undying is not shown in the sources here, so no pack-specific changes are listed. Check the pack's own release notes for that detail.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as charmofundying, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
