Genetics: Resequenced
18 quests, with the items each asks for and where they come from in FTB Skies 2.
- Welcome to Genetics: Resequenced!
If you've ever looked at a mob and thought: "Hmm, I wish I could do that". Wish no longer! Genetics: Resequenced allows you to gather DNA from mobs and inject them into yourself or other mobs, granting them new abilities. To get started, scrape mobs or yourself (shift-right-click) for some Organic Matter.
Asks for:Scraper
- Organic Matter
Organic Matter gathered from mobs will follow a processing chain to eventually give you DNA containing a genetic trait you can apply to entities. Organic Matter will be of the specific mob type you have scraped.
Needs: Welcome to Genetics: Resequenced!Asks for:Organic Matter
- Cell Analyzer
When powered, the Cell Analyzer converts Organic Matter into Cells. Most Genetics machines can be sped up using Overclockers. You can have up to 8 per supported machine.
Needs: Organic MatterAsks for:Cell Analyzer,
Overclocker
- Cell
Cells are used to create DNA Helices. Each entity has its own cell that can be processed into its DNA type.
Needs: Cell AnalyzerAsks for:Cell
- Syringes
Syringes are used to insert and extract blood from entities or players. This process allows you to inject Plasmids into your body carrying genes you'd like to obtain. The Metal Syringe is used on entities, while the normal Syringe is used on yourself
Needs: Welcome to Genetics: Resequenced!Asks for:Metal Syringe,
Syringe
- Incubator
The Incubator is effectively a faster Brewing Stand. It works twice as fast (without overclocking), but requires FE instead of Blaze Powder.
Needs: Welcome to Genetics: Resequenced!Asks for:Incubator
- DNA Extractor
When powered, the DNA Extractor processes Cells into unknown DNA Helices. When using a Genetically Modified Cell instead of a regular Cell, it will reveal a stronger DNA Helix genetic for that specific mob.
Needs: CellAsks for:DNA Extractor
- Blood Purifier
When powered, the Blood Purifier can decontaminate Syringes.
Needs: SyringesAsks for:Blood Purifier
- DNA Decryptor
When powered, the DNA Decryptor will convert unknown DNA Helices into specific genetic aspects related to the mob it originates from. Some genes have a higher chance of being discovered than others, but will default to Basic if the process cannot discover anything else. Note: It is recommended to pipe Helices out of the DNA Decryptor straight away, as different genes do not stack, and can clog up the output slot.
Needs: DNA ExtractorAsks for:DNA Decryptor
- Advanced Incubator
The Advanced Incubator works like a regular Incubator, but allows for temperature control. You can toggle temperature control by clicking the coil on the left side of the interface. It functions significantly slower while in low-temperature mode, but is the only way to get Genetically Modified Cells.
Needs: IncubatorAsks for:Advanced Incubator
- Genetically Modified Cell
A Genetically Modified Cell (GM Cell for short) is guaranteed to have a specific gene when crafted correctly and successfully. Yes, this process can fail. Each GM Cell has a different chance to fail, which is further decreased when using Overclockers, but increased whenever Chorus Fruits are inserted into the top-right interface slot of the Advanced Incubator.
Needs: DNA Extractor, Advanced IncubatorAsks for:Genetically Modified Cell
- DNA Helix
DNA Helices contain genetic information in the form of a gene or an entity, which can be used to create Plasmids. DNA Helices have three variants: - Encrypted Helices contain genetic information of an entity, but not the actual gene. - Decrypted Helices contain the actual gene type derived from an entity. - Basic Helices don't contain any genes, but can still contribute to Plasmids.
Needs: DNA Decryptor, Genetically Modified CellAsks for:DNA Helix
- Plasmid
Plasmids are used to carry ready-to-use genes. However, you will need a way to directly inject it into your veins before you are able to fully use them.
Needs: DNA HelixAsks for:Plasmid
- Plasmid Injector
When powered, the Plasmid Injector is used to apply a Plasmid to a Filled Syringe. You can then Right-Click this Syringe to add the gene to yourself, or an entity if using a Metal Syringe. You can also stack multiple genes on the same Syringe.
Needs: Blood Purifier, PlasmidAsks for:Plasmid Injector
- Plasmid Infuser
When powered, the Plasmid Infuser injects DNA Helices into Plasmids, adding DNA points to its total. Basic Genes are worth 1 point and cannot be the first one infused into a Plasmid. Genes of the Plasmid's type are worth 2 points.
Needs: PlasmidAsks for:Plasmid Infuser
- Anti-Plasmid
Anti-Plasmids are used to remove a certain gene from yourself. Simply craft it together with a Plasmid carrying the gene you wish to remove, and then inject it into a Syringe as you would with a regular Plasmid.
Needs: Plasmid InfuserAsks for:Anti-Plasmid
- Anti-Field
Anti-Fields are used to disable the Item & XP Magnet genes. The Anti-Field Orb works while in the inventory and can be toggled via right-clicking. The Anti-Field Block works within a 25-block radius and can be toggled via redstone signal.
Needs: Plasmid InfuserAsks for:Anti-Field Block,
Anti-Field Orb
- Gene Checker
The Gene Checker shows you what genes an entity has. It will show you your own genes if you are not looking at another entity.
Needs: Plasmid InfuserAsks for:Gene Checker
