What is PackMenu?

PackMenu is included in this pack at version 4.1.4. The file name is PackMenu-1.18.2-4.1.4.jar, which shows it is built for Minecraft 1.18.2. It was first included in this pack's 4.0 release or earlier.[1]

Unverified I don't have a description of what PackMenu does, so I can't tell you its features or who it is meant for. No in-jar guidebook or platform listing was available to check. Where it fits in the pack's progression, including the ATM Star path, is also unconfirmed.

How do you get started with PackMenu?

2 parts

PackMenu is the mod that controls how the main menu looks in this pack. Its settings live in one file, and the pack changes a few of them from the mod defaults, so that is where your first steps are.[2]

Unverified No recipe or quest sources were available for PackMenu, so there are no items to craft and no crafting order to follow here.

What the pack changed

The pack turns off several default title screen elements. All of these are true in the mod's defaults and set to false here, so you won't see them unless you switch them back on.[2]

  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Title]] is false. This is the giant Minecraft title text.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Java Edition]] is false. This is the "Java Edition" text.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Splash]] is false. This is the splash text.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Enable Logo]] is false. The logo is off.[2]
  • slideshow.Textures is an empty list. When it is empty, the slideshow is ignored.[2]

What is left as the mod default

[[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Forge Info]] stays true. It draws Forge information at the top center, including beta and update warnings. [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Panorama]] stays false, and the file notes that enabling it disables the custom background options. [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Folder Pack]] stays true, so the resource pack is loaded from the resources folder instead of a zip.[2]

Tip: If you want the logo back, turn on [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Enable Logo]]. The logo settings already point at a texture, so you can adjust its size and position with the other logo options in the same file.[2]

How does PackMenu work?

5 parts

PackMenu is about the main menu screen, not machines. The only source for it here is its config file, so there are no multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling to cover. What you can learn is how the title screen is put together and which parts the pack switched off.[2]

What the pack turned off

The pack changed several defaults so the menu looks cleaner. These elements are all hidden, though each was drawn by default in the mod:[2]

  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Title]] is false, so the giant Minecraft title text is not drawn.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Splash]] is false, so the splash text is hidden.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Java Edition]] is false, so the "Java Edition" text is hidden.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Enable Logo]] is false, so the logo is disabled.[2]
  • slideshow.Textures is an empty list. When it is empty, the slideshow is ignored.[2]

[[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Forge Info]] stays true, so Forge information is drawn at the top center. That includes beta and update warnings.[2]

Backgrounds: panorama and slideshow

[[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Panorama]] is false. It controls whether the vanilla panorama and its fade-in are rendered. Turning it on disables the custom background options. [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Panorama Fade In]] is also false.[2]

[[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Panorama Variations]] sets how many panorama variations exist, from 1 to 10, and it is set to 1. Extra variations beyond the original set must be named panorama<y>_<z>.png. For example, the first file of variation #2 is panorama1_0.png.[2]

[[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Panorama Speed]] is a multiplier on panorama speed, and the pack leaves it at 1.[2]

If you add textures to the slideshow, two timing options apply. They only matter once the texture list is not empty.[2]

  • slideshow.Duration is 200. It sets how long between slideshow transitions.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#slideshow.Transition Duration]] is 20. It sets how long a slideshow transition lasts.[2]

Positioning elements

Each menu element has an anchor point plus X and Y offsets. The anchors are "TITLE" for the title, "SPLASH" for the splash text, "JAVAED" for the Java Edition text and "FORGE" for the Forge info. All of these offsets are 0 and accept values from -1000 to 1000. The matching options are [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#title.Anchor Point]], [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#splash text.Anchor Point]], [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#java edition text.Anchor Point]] and [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#forge info.Anchor Point]].[2]

The splash text has its own color option, [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#splash text.Color]], which is set to -256.[2]

It also has a rotation option, [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#splash text.Rotation]], which is set to -20.[2]

The logo settings

The logo is disabled, but its settings are still in the config. [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Texture Path]] points to a png file, and the file should include its extension. It is set to packmenu:textures/gui/logo.png.[2]

  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Texture Width]] is the width of the logo's texture, set to 300.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Texture Height]] is the height of the logo's texture, set to 300.[2]
  • logo.Width is the width of the logo, set to 100.[2]
  • logo.Height is the height of the logo, set to 100.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.X Offset]] is the X offset of the logo, set to -650.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Y Offset]] is the Y offset of the logo, set to 0.[2]

Logo offsets accept values from -500,000 to 500,000, far wider than the text elements. The logo's anchor point, [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Anchor Point]], is "DEFAULT_LOGO".[2]

Resource pack folder

[[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Folder Pack]] is true. That means the resource pack is loaded from the /resources folder instead of /resources.zip.[2]

Which PackMenu config options matter?

4 parts

PackMenu is configured in config/packmenu.cfg, and everything in it is about the title screen. This pack turns off most of the default title screen elements, so those are the options you are most likely to touch.[2]

What the pack changed from the mod default

  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Title]] is false in this pack (mod default true), so the giant Minecraft title text is not drawn.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Splash]] is false (mod default true), so the splash text is not drawn.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Java Edition]] is false (mod default true), so the "Java Edition" text is hidden.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Enable Logo]] is false (mod default true), so the logo is switched off.[2]
  • slideshow.Textures is an empty list in this pack. When it is empty the slideshow is ignored.[2]

The file also flags a couple of other options as set by the pack, but their values match the mod default, so nothing is different from a stock install.[2]

  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Panorama Speed]] is 1, a multiplier on panorama speed, with an allowed range of 0.01 to 100.0.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#splash text.Rotation]] is -20, the same as the mod default.[2]

Background options

  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Panorama]] is false, the same as the mod default. It controls the vanilla panorama and its fade-in, and enabling it disables the custom background options.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Panorama Fade In]] is false, also the mod default.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Panorama Variations]] is 1, with an allowed range of 1 to 10. Extra panorama sets must be named in the form panorama<y>_<z>.png.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Folder Pack]] is true, which means the resource pack is loaded from the /resources folder instead of /resources.zip.[2]
  • slideshow.Duration is 200, the time between slideshow transitions, at the mod default.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#slideshow.Transition Duration]] is 20, how long a slideshow transition lasts, also at the mod default.[2]

Logo settings

The logo is off, but its settings are still in the file at the mod defaults. If you want the logo back, set [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Enable Logo]] to true.[2]

  • logo.Width is 100.[2]
  • logo.Height is 100.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Texture Width]] is 300.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Texture Height]] is 300.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.X Offset]] is -650.[2]
  • [[config:config/packmenu.cfg#logo.Texture Path]] is "packmenu:textures/gui/logo.png", and it must be a png file.[2]

Other elements

[[config:config/packmenu.cfg#general.Draw Forge Info]] is true, so the Forge information at the top center (including beta and update warnings) is still shown. The title, splash text, Java Edition text and Forge info each have their own anchor point and X and Y offset options, and the pack leaves all of them at the mod defaults.[2]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as packmenu, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
