How does Framed Compacting Drawers work?

Framed Compacting Drawers is an add-on that gives you framed versions of storage drawers. The sources I have for this pack only cover the crafting recipes, so this section is short. I'd rather leave out the mechanics I can't confirm than guess at them.[3]
The building blocks
- Drawer blocks come in a full and a half size. The full ones are Framed Drawer, Framed Drawers 1x2 and Framed Drawers 2x2. The half ones are Framed Half Drawer, Framed Half Drawers 1x2 and Framed Half Drawers 2x2.[3]
- Framed Compacting Drawer is the compacting variant.[3]
- Framed Drawer Controller and Framed Controller Slave are the controller pair for drawer networks.[3]
- Framed Trim is the trim piece.[3]
