What is Crafting Station?

Crafting Station is part of this pack, which ships version 1.18.2-5.0.1 of the mod. It has been in the pack since version 1.1 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modlist.[1]

Unverified The sources I have only confirm the mod's version and when it joined the pack. They don't describe what Crafting Station does, who it's best suited for, or where it fits in the progression, so I'm not guessing at any of that. I also found no confirmed connection to the ATM Star path or to any quests in this pack.

How do you get started with Crafting Station?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide

Getting started with Crafting Station is quick. The pack gives you a recipe for the Crafting Station and one for its slab version, and both are shapeless, so you don't have to worry about layout.[2]

First: Make the Crafting Station

Your first craft is the Crafting Station. It is made from a vanilla crafting table, so you can start with the table you already know. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[2]

Next: Make the slab version (optional)

Once you have a Crafting Station, you can turn it into a Crafting Station Slab. This recipe is shapeless too:[2]

Recipe id: craftingstation:crafting_station_slab

Unverified The sources here do not show what the Crafting Station does once placed, such as its inventory or how the slab differs from the full block. No quests in this pack involve the mod, and there is no in-jar guidebook or lang-file tooltip to check, so test it in-game before relying on any specific behavior.

How does Crafting Station work?

2 parts

The sources for this pack only back up a few details about how the Crafting Station works, so this section is short. Everything below is confirmed, with no guesses.[3][4]

Getting a Crafting Station

The Crafting Station has its own shapeless crafting recipe in this pack, so you can make it in an ordinary crafting grid.[4]

There is also a slab version, the Crafting Station Slab. It is made from the Crafting Station with another shapeless recipe.[4]

Side inventories in the crafting grid

The server config has an option, [[config:defaultconfigs/craftingstation-server.toml#general.display side inventories in crafting grid]], that controls whether side inventories are displayed in the crafting grid. This pack sets it to true, so they are shown.[3]

Tip: If you don't want side inventories shown in the crafting grid, that is the option to change. This pack has it set to true.[3]

How do you progress through Crafting Station?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide

Crafting Station is a short chain in this pack. You start with a vanilla crafting table, turn it into a Crafting Station, and then turn that into a Crafting Station Slab. The recipe data shows no tiers or upgrade steps beyond that.[2]

The Crafting Station

You get the Crafting Station by converting a vanilla crafting table. It's a shapeless recipe, so the arrangement in the grid doesn't matter.[2]

The Crafting Station Slab

The Crafting Station Slab is made from the Crafting Station you just built, also with a shapeless recipe.[2]

Recipe id: craftingstation:crafting_station_slab

Tip: Both recipes are listed in the pack as mod recipes, so these are the mod's own recipes and the pack's recipe data shows no changes to them.[2]

Which Crafting Station config options matter?

Good news: Crafting Station keeps its config simple. The only option the pack gives us a value for is the side inventory display setting in the server config, so this section is short on purpose.[3]

  • [[config:defaultconfigs/craftingstation-server.toml#general.display side inventories in crafting grid]] is set to true in this pack. That means side inventories are displayed in the crafting grid, which is what the option's own description says it controls.[3]

Unverified The sources don't show the mod's default for this option, so it's unverified whether the pack changed it. Other Crafting Station options aren't covered by the sources either, so they're left out here.
