Apotheosis is a mod in All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0, where it is version 5.8.1. All things that should have been (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Apotheosis?

3 parts

This pack includes Apotheosis 5.8.1, the 1.18.2 build. It is a big content mod that makes you stronger through loot, enchanting and attributes, while trying to stay true to vanilla mechanics at heart. If you like gearing up and chasing better loot, this is the mod for you.[1][2]

What's inside

The in-game guide splits the mod into modules, and each one covers a different part of the game:[3][4][5][6][7][8]

  • Adventure Module: procedurally generated loot items with powerful bonuses, but new foes show up too.[3]
  • Enchanting Module: all the changes to the enchanting system, plus new enchantments.[4][9]
  • Spawner Module: lets you move and modify Mob Spawners.[7]
  • Potion Module: new potions and new potion recipes, with Potion Charms covered in their own section.[6][10]
  • Garden Module: changes random things about plants.[5]
  • Village Module: various village and villager related things.[8]

The loot loop

The headline feature is Affix Items. You find them while adventuring, and each has a Rarity that decides how strong it is and which affixes it gets. The rarities run from Common up to Ancient, and the book hints that Ancient may not even be implemented yet.[11][12]

Gems add extra bonuses when socketed into an affix item, and you combine the item and the gem in a Smithing Table. The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials. The Reforging Table then spends Rarity Materials, Gem Dust and Experience Levels to give an item brand new affixes. Its three choices cost 2, 4 and 6 of each.[13][14][15]

Apotheosis also changes some basics. Anvils become enchantable and have no level limits. The caps on Armor and Armor Toughness rise from 30 to 40 and from 20 to 30.[16][17][18]

Where it fits in the pack

Unverified The sources I have don't show where Apotheosis sits in the pack's progression, and they don't connect it to the ATM Star path or to any pack quests, so I can't say when you're expected to start using it.

How do you get started with Apotheosis?

6 parts

Apotheosis adds affix items: gear with procedurally generated bonuses that you find while adventuring. Your first goal is to set up a way to break that loot down and reroll gear. The order below gets you there with the least backtracking.[1][3][11]

The mod also has an in-game guidebook, the Chronicle of Shadows. Content that a pack disables won't show in it, and packs can change content, so use it alongside JEI.[1]

Find affix items and gems

Affix items turn up in loot chests and drop from random monsters. Gems come from chest loot too, and rarely from mobs. A gem only drops if a real player makes the kill, not a machine or other automation. Bosses are more likely to drop them.[1][11][13]

Crush two gems into Gem Dust

Gem Dust is the key resource for everything that follows, and both tables below need it. Your first two dust have to come from an anvil crushing two gems in-world. After that, the Salvaging Table can make more.[1][19][20]

Craft the Salvaging Table

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials. Each rarity gives its own material, from common up to mythic. This is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.[14][20][21]

Craft the Reforging Table

The Reforging Table wipes an item's affixes and gives it new ones. Put the item in the top slot, Rarity Materials in the left slot and Gem Dust in the right slot. All three slots must be filled. This is also the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.[15][20]

You get three choices, like an enchanting table. They cost 2, 4 and 6 Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and Experience Levels respectively. No choice is inherently stronger than the others. The choices are based on your Enchantment Seed. Reforging works on any valid item, not just ones that already have affixes.[15]

Add sockets and gems

To socket a gem, combine the item and the gem in a Smithing Table, with the item on the left and the gem on the right. If an item has no sockets, the Sigil of Socketing can give it one. The pack changes this recipe from the mod's default.[1][13][20]

Watch out: Think before you remove a gem. A Vial of Searing Expulsion removes the gems and destroys them, while a Vial of Arcane Extraction keeps the gems but destroys the item.[13]

Start upgrading your enchanting setup

Apotheosis overhauls enchanting, and the shelves are a big part of that. Infusion Enchanting turns a Seashelf into an Infused Seashelf. A Hellshelf becomes an Infused Hellshelf the same way.[4][20][21]

How does Apotheosis work?

8 parts

The core systems in Apotheosis are crafting stations and block-based setups: the enchanting overhaul, Infusion Enchanting, the library, the reforging and salvaging tables, and spawner editing. This section covers how those work.[1][4]

Enchanting stats

Enchanting no longer depends only on the level you spend. The guide currently lists five new enchanting stats: Eterna, Quanta, Arcana, Rectification and Clues. Blocks that provide them list the values on their tooltip.[22]

  • Among the stats currently listed, Eterna is the primary one. Each point raises the maximum enchanting level by two, and some blocks only provide Eterna up to a certain cap.[22]
  • Among the stats currently listed, Quanta controls variance. A value between 1 - Quanta and 1 + Quanta is picked and multiplied by the level you spent, so higher Quanta means a wider and less consistent power range.[22]
  • Among the stats currently listed, Arcana shifts the rarity weights and, at certain thresholds, adds extra enchantments. At 25% you will always receive at least two enchantments, and at 75% you will always receive three. The guide gives the default weights as Common 10, Uncommon 5, Rare 3 and Very Rare 1, and every 10% of Arcana changes them.[22]
  • Rectification, one of the currently listed stats, raises the lower bound of your power range. Min Power becomes 1 - (1 - R) * Quanta, so higher is always better and negative Rectification is always bad.[22]
  • Clues let you see one additional enchantment each in the preview window. With zero clues you can see nothing.[22]

Your Enchanting Seed decides which enchantments are offered for a slot. It changes when you enchant an item at an enchanting table, and until it changes, seed-based outcomes such as the offers stay the same. To preview what's possible, place an item in the table and click the question mark in the top right to open the info menu.[23][24]

Shelves and rectifiers

In this pack the Rectification shelves have changed recipes: Shelf of Seabound Rectification, Shelf of Hellbound Rectification and Shelf of End-Fused Rectification each build on the previous tier. The same goes for Shelf of Sight and Shelf of Masterful Sight.[20]

Infusion Enchanting

Infusion Enchanting is crafting through the enchanting table. Each recipe takes a single item and has three stat requirements, usually a minimum and sometimes a maximum. It only uses the third slot and lets you over-spend experience. Place the item, and if your stats fit, the third slot lights up. Click it to infuse.[25]

The pack has Infusion recipes for the Hellshelf, the Seashelf, the Sigil of Socketing and the Enchantment Library. The library recipe keeps the item's NBT data. They are shown below.[20]

Enchantment Library

The Enchantment Library stores enchantments as points. Insert enchanted books and every enchantment on them is stored. Each library has a Level Capacity, and anything above it is voided. The standard library holds up to sixteen, and the Library of Alexandria holds up to thirty-one. The Library of Alexandria can't be crafted directly and must be made through Infusion Enchanting.[26]

Click a stored enchantment to extract one level, or shift-click to pull out every level it can give. Books are generated in the output slot as needed. You can also put a book in the output slot to add enchantments to it. The library remembers the highest level ever inserted for each enchantment and can only extract up to that.[26]

Watch out: Anything above the library's Level Capacity is voided, so don't feed it books you can't afford to lose.[26]

Reforging and salvaging

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials, with one material type per rarity from common to mythic. The Reforging Table spends those materials to give an item brand new affixes. Reforging works on any valid item, not only ones that already have affixes.[14][15]

The Reforging Table has three input slots. The top slot holds the item, the left slot takes Rarity Materials and the right slot takes Gem Dust, and all three must be filled. Like an enchanting table, you get three choices. They cost 2, 4 and 6 Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and Experience Levels respectively, and no choice is inherently stronger. The choices come from your Enchanting Seed. To reforge the same item again, pick it up and put it back first.[15]

Gem Dust comes from crushing gems with an anvil in the world. The project page says your first two dust have to be made that way, and after that you can use the Salvaging Table.[1][19]

Gems and sockets

To socket a gem, combine the item (left) and the gem (right) in a Smithing Table. A gem works in any item, and its bonus applies whenever the item is in use. Combining a socketed item with a Vial of Searing Expulsion removes the gems and destroys them. A Vial of Arcane Extraction retrieves the gems but destroys the item.[13]

For an item with no sockets, the Sigil of Socketing exists, and its recipe is changed in this pack.[1][20]

Anvil tricks

Anvils are enchantable, have no level limits and can be repaired in an anvil with Iron Blocks. Two anvil-only enchantments work on books in the world. For Splitting, throw an enchanted book on the ground and drop the anvil onto it. A book with several enchantments becomes one book per enchantment. Obliteration works the same way, but it turns a single-enchantment book into two books, each one level lower.[16][27][28]

Spawners

Mob Spawners can be picked up with Silk Touch, at an extra durability cost. Each one has stats you can change with Spawner Modifiers: spawn delay, spawn count, max entities, activation range, spawn range, and toggles such as Ignores Players and Ignores Conditions. Every modifier is listed in JEI under the Mob Spawner's uses and recipes.[29][30][31]

To apply a modifier, hold its items and right-click the spawner. It doesn't matter which hand holds which item. The main item is always consumed on success, but the secondary item may not be. Some modifiers have caps, which are noted in their JEI tooltips.[31]

Tip: A spawner needs a player within its Activation Range to run, unless it ignores players. If a spawner seems dead, check that first.[30]

Unverified The pack's config files for Apotheosis are not available in the sources here, so any values the pack sets in them (such as enchanting or spawner limits) are unverified. Check the in-game guide, the Chronicle of Shadows, and JEI for the values your pack actually uses. This site does hold All the Mods - Gravitas's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you progress through Apotheosis?

4 parts

Apotheosis doesn't give you one straight ladder. In this pack it splits into two tracks: the affix gear track (rarities, salvaging, reforging, sockets) and the enchanting track (a chain of upgraded shelves and libraries). Here's how each one climbs.[3][4][12][20]

Unverified The sources here show no quest in the pack's quest book that involves Apotheosis, so there is no quest-guided order. The tiers below follow the in-pack recipes and the mod's own in-game guide instead. This site does hold All the Mods - Gravitas's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Affix item rarities

Every affix item has a rarity, and a higher rarity is always stronger than the one before it. Rarity decides how strong the item is and which affixes it gets.[12]

  • Common: always one stat bonus, with a low chance of a second.[12]
  • Uncommon: always two stat bonuses, possibly a third, and it may get a single socket. No unique effects yet.[12]
  • Rare: three stat bonuses and a special effect, possibly a second effect. It may get a socket and always has a slight durability bonus. Effect affixes only show up on Rare and above.[12][32]
  • Epic: three stats and an effect, possibly a fourth stat and a second effect. It can have up to two sockets and a stronger durability bonus.[12]
  • Mythic: four stats and two effects, possibly a third effect, and up to three sockets. It carries a significant durability bonus.[12]
  • Ancient: described as the pinnacle, but the in-game guide jokes that it may not even be implemented yet.[12]

Salvaging and reforging

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials. There is one material per rarity, from Common up to Mythic, and you get the one matching the rarity of the item you salvage.[14]

Those materials are what you spend at the Reforging Table. It wipes an item's affixes and offers new ones, and all three input slots must be filled: the item, Rarity Materials and Gem Dust. You get three choices that cost 2, 4 and 6 of the materials, dust and experience levels respectively, and no choice is inherently stronger.[15]

Gem Dust comes from crushing Apotheotic Gems with an anvil in the world. Gems can be found in chest loot and are more likely to drop from bosses, so you can either socket them or turn them into dust.[13][19]

Sockets

Gems are socketed in a Smithing Table, with the item on the left and the gem on the right. To get them back out, you use a Vial of Searing Expulsion, which destroys the gems, or a Vial of Arcane Extraction, which destroys the item.[13]

The pack has changed the recipe for the Sigil of Socketing, so use this one rather than the mod default. Its upgrade, the Superior Sigil of Socketing, is made with the mod's default enchanting recipe.[20]

From there, the pack has changed the recipes for the rectifier line. The Seabound, Hellbound and End-Fused versions each upgrade the previous one: Shelf of Seabound Rectification, then Shelf of Hellbound Rectification, then Shelf of End-Fused Rectification. The first one starts from the Infused Seashelf.[20]

Which Apotheosis config options matter?

6 parts

Apotheosis has a lot of config files, but only a handful of values really change how your run feels. Below, I only call something a pack change when the pack's value differs from the mod default.[33][34]

Modules

  • [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Village Module]] is false in this pack (mod default true), so the village module is not loaded. The adventure, enchantment, garden, potion and spawner modules all stay enabled.[34]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Give Book on First Join]] is false (mod default true), so new players are not handed the Chronicle of Shadows automatically.[34]

Affixes, gems and loot

  • [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#affixes.Random Affix Chance]] is 0.04 here, down from the mod default of 0.24. Naturally spawned mobs are much less likely to be given an affix item.[33]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#affixes.Gem Drop Chance]] is 0.045 and [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#affixes.Gem Boss Bonus]] is 0.33. Both match the mod defaults.[33]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#affixes.Torch Placement Item]] is set to "tfc:torch" instead of the default "minecraft:torch". That is the item the torch placer affix uses.[33]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#affixes.Affix Convert Rarities]] is a custom list. It limits conversion rarities per dimension, for example the_nether is uncommon to rare and the_end is epic to mythic, and it adds entries for bloodmagic:dungeon and several beyond_earth worlds.[33]
  • The rarity weights and qualities (for example common 400, uncommon 320, rare 150, epic 90, mythic 40) are the same as the mod defaults.[33]

Bosses and world generation

  • [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#bosses.Boss Spawn Cooldown]] is 9000 ticks, up from the default of 400. That is the time that must pass between any two natural boss spawns in a single dimension.[33]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#bosses.Boss Spawn Dimensions]] is rewritten. The pack lists the Nether, bloodmagic:dungeon, the End, and the beyond_earth Moon, Mars and Venus, each at 0.1. The overworld entry from the mod default is not in the pack's list.[33]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#worldgen.Boss Dungeon Attempts]] and [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#worldgen.Boss Dungeon (Variant 2) Attempts]] are both 2 per chunk, down from 8, so boss dungeons are rarer.[33]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#bosses.Boss Announce Ignore Y]] is false (default true), so height counts for the announcement range. [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#bosses.Boss Announce Volume]] is 0.5 (default 0.75). The range itself, [[config:config/apotheosis/adventure.cfg#bosses.Boss Announce Range]], stays at 96.[33]

Spawners

Watch out: [[config:config/apotheosis/spawner.cfg#general.Spawner Silk Level]] is -1 in this pack (mod default 1), and -1 means disabled. Don't plan on picking up spawners with Silk Touch.[35]

[[config:config/apotheosis/spawner.cfg#spawn_eggs.Banned Mobs]] is an empty list, so no mobs are banned from being applied to spawners via egg.[35]

Gardens and villages

[[config:config/apotheosis/garden.cfg#general.Reed Height]] is 24 here (mod default 255). Bamboo (32) and cactus (5) keep their defaults.[36]

The pack also changes some options in village.cfg: [[config:config/apotheosis/village.cfg#arrows.Explosive Arrow Block Damage]] is false, [[config:config/apotheosis/village.cfg#wanderer.Clear Generic Trades]] is true, and [[config:config/apotheosis/village.cfg#wanderer.Underground Trader]] is false. Keep in mind that the village module itself is disabled in apotheosis.cfg.[34][37]

Names and enchanting

names.cfg holds the item and boss name lists. In this pack many of the material groups, such as armors.DIAMOND, are empty lists. The TFC metal armor groups such as armors.STEEL list TFC armor piece ids.[38]

The enchantment module is enabled. Its options are set in config/apotheosis/enchantments.cfg, which I don't have the values of here.[34]
