What is Iron Furnaces?
2 parts
Iron Furnaces adds several tiers of furnace, inspired by cpw's Iron Chests mod. If you've ever wished your smelting setup was faster, this mod is for you. This pack includes version 4.4.2.[1][2]
What it offers
- Much faster smelting than a regular furnace, which is the whole point of the mod.[1]
- Reconfigurable sides, so you can choose how each face of the furnace behaves.[1]
- Augments that add smoking and blasting abilities.[1]
- A top-tier Rainbow Furnace. The project page teases it with the question "Can you craft the Rainbow Furnace and unlock its POWER?"[1]
The mod is explicitly compatible with JEI and Project MMO, and its authors say it should work with most other mods. That makes it an easy drop-in upgrade for any smelting setup you already have.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
Unverified The sources I have don't show where Iron Furnaces fits in this pack's progression. As far as I can tell it isn't on the ATM Star path and no quests involve it, so you can pick it up whenever you want faster smelting. The sources also don't give the crafting recipes or tier details for this pack.
How do you get started with Iron Furnaces?
4 parts
Iron Furnaces adds several tiers of furnace on top of the vanilla one, with faster smelting, reconfigurable sides for item transfer, and augments. Here's a sensible order for your first steps. The recipes below are the exact ones in this pack.[1][3][4]
Step one: make an Iron Furnace
The Iron Furnace is the first tier to aim for, and the pack has two different recipes for it. Either one works, so use whichever is easier for you to gather for.[3]

If you already have a stone furnace set up, you can use the Stone to Iron Furnace Upgrade instead. Sneak and right-click with an upgrade to apply it.[3][4]

Step two: know your other early upgrade paths
Copper is the other early furnace you can make. The Stone to Copper Furnace Upgrade converts a stone furnace to copper, and the Copper to Iron Furnace Upgrade converts a copper furnace to iron. The Copper Furnace recipe is shown below, followed by both upgrades.[3]

Step three: add augments
Augments go into a furnace with a right-click. The Augment: Speed halves the cooktime for all recipes, but it uses twice the fuel. The Augment: Fuel Efficiency makes fuel heat the furnace twice as much, but it slows the cooktime by 25% for all recipes.[3][4]

The Augment: Blasting and Augment: Smoking limit a furnace to blasting recipes only or smoking recipes only.[3][4]

Step four: try wireless heat
The Wireless Heat Receiver goes in the fuel slot of a furnace, and it only works from Iron tier and above. A transmitter block that you supply with Forge Energy powers all the receivers bound to it, so you can skip feeding fuel by hand.[4]

How does Iron Furnaces work?
7 parts
Iron Furnaces adds several tiers of furnace, with reconfigurable sides and augments that change how each furnace behaves. This section covers how those systems work.[1]
Augments
Augments are items you insert into a furnace by right-clicking with them. Each one has a clear upside and a downside, so pick them for the job the furnace is doing.[4]
- Augment: Speed halves the cooktime for all recipes, but the furnace uses up twice the amount of fuel.[3][4]
- Augment: Fuel Efficiency makes fuel heat up the furnace twice as much, but slows the cooktime by 25% for all recipes.[3][4]
- Augment: Blasting restricts the furnace to blasting recipes only.[3][4]
- Augment: Smoking restricts the furnace to smoking recipes only.[3][4]
- Augment: Generator makes the furnace's heat generate power, but the furnace can no longer smelt items.[3][4]
- Augment: Factory converts the furnace into a factory. It uses power for heat instead of fuel.[3][4]
Two more augment families show up in the tooltips. The experience augment either ejects the experience from smelting into nearby fluid tanks, or gives it to the player who placed the furnace. Sneak and right-click in the air to switch between those two modes.[4]
The redstone augment has four modes. Redstone Control mode stops the furnace from smelting while it receives a redstone signal. Inverse Control mode only smelts while it receives a signal. Comparator mode acts as an internal comparator and outputs the signal to all sides. Comparator Subtraction mode works the same way, but you can subtract a signal strength configured in the furnace GUI. Right-click in the air to change mode.[4]
Sides and item transfer
The furnace GUI adds configurable sides for item transfer, so you choose how each face of the furnace handles items.[1][4]
Wireless heat
You can heat a furnace without fuel by placing a Wireless Heat Receiver in its fuel slot. It only works from Iron tier and above.[4]
To set it up, link the receiver by placing it in the Wireless Heat Transmitter block. Supply the transmitter with Forge Energy and it powers all the receivers bound to it. Until a receiver is bound, its tooltip warns that it has yet to be bound to an energy source.[4]
Upgrading furnaces
Upgrade items, such as Stone to Iron Furnace Upgrade (Stone to Iron), move a furnace up a tier. Sneak and right-click the furnace with the upgrade to apply it. The pack has upgrades for several steps, including Gold to Diamond Furnace Upgrade and Netherite to Allthemodium Furnace Upgrade.[3][4]
The Rainbow Furnace generator
The Rainbow Furnace has a generator mode with strict rules. It produces RF/tick only if all the other furnaces are generating power. For that, one of each tier of furnace must be an active generator and not have a full buffer.[3][4]
Its energy goes out through any side configured as output. It won't add energy to the internal buffer. You can only have one Rainbow Generator.[4]
The pack adds its own recipe for Rainbow Plating. Both recipes are shown below.[3]

Cosmetic extras
The Furnace Spooka-lator spookalizes a furnace when you right-click it, and sneaking while right-clicking cleanses it again. Furnace Wrapping Papers wraps a furnace as a gift, and sneaking while right-clicking opens the gift.[3][4]
Compatibility
The mod has explicit compatibility with JEI and Project MMO. JEI also has a Generator | Blasting category.[1][4]
Unverified The pack has no config files for this mod in the sources, so base cooktimes, fuel values and per-tier speeds are not confirmed here.
How do you progress through Iron Furnaces?
5 parts
Iron Furnaces is all about climbing a ladder of furnace tiers. In this pack every tier has its own crafting recipe, and most tiers also have a matching upgrade item named after the two furnaces it connects. Here's the path, following those upgrade names.[3]
The early tiers
The Stone to Copper Furnace Upgrade is the Stone to Copper step and gives you a Copper Furnace. The Stone to Iron Furnace Upgrade is a Stone to Iron step for the Iron Furnace. If you already have a copper one, the Copper to Iron Furnace Upgrade goes from Copper to Iron.[3]
From there the path branches. Silver is reachable from copper with the Copper to Silver Furnace Upgrade or from iron with the Iron to Silver Furnace Upgrade. Gold is reachable from iron with the Iron to Gold Furnace Upgrade or from silver with the Silver to Gold Furnace Upgrade. That gives you the Silver Furnace and the Golden Furnace.[3]

Gems and obsidian
The Gold to Diamond Furnace Upgrade takes a Gold furnace to a Diamond Furnace. Diamond then splits into two routes. The Diamond to Emerald Furnace Upgrade gives you the Emerald Furnace, and the Diamond to Crystal Furnace Upgrade gives you the Crystal Furnace.[3]
Both gem routes meet again at the Obsidian Furnace. Use the Emerald to Obsidian Furnace Upgrade from Emerald, or the Crystal to Obsidian Furnace Upgrade from Crystal.[3]
The late-game metals
After obsidian the upgrade path becomes a single line. The Obsidian to Netherite Furnace Upgrade gives you the Netherite Furnace. The Netherite to Allthemodium Furnace Upgrade takes that to the Allthemodium Furnace. The Allthemodium to Vibranium Furnace Upgrade then gives you the Vibranium Furnace, and the Vibranium to Unobtainium Furnace Upgrade finishes the upgrade chain with the Unobtainium Furnace.[3]
The Rainbow Furnace
The Rainbow Furnace is shown in game as the Rainbow Furnace. The recipes below cover it, the Rainbow Core and the Rainbow Plating. The plating recipe is added by the pack, so check it below instead of assuming the mod's default.[3]
