- Welcome to Neo Vitae (A journey written in blood.)
Blood is the currency of power here. We start with nothing but a knife and a wound, and from those first drops we will raise an altar that can drink whole ecosystems dry, tie our soul to a hundred reservoirs, turn demons into tools, and tear open a dimension that wants us dead. We call this craft Vitaemancy — turning blood into Essentia Vitae (EV), the fuel behind every altar, sigil, ritual and forge we're about to build. Our first step is simple: set an Ara Vitae on flat stone we can walk all the way around. It has no blood of its own yet, so it borrows a little from whoever stands nearby — never enough to kill, just enough to wake it up.
Asks for:Ara Vitae
- The Blank Slate
Not every offering to the altar needs to become an orb — this one becomes a foundation. Smooth stone, run through a Tier 0 Ara Vitae for 1,000 EV, turns into Tabula Rasa: deepslate ready for the first marks we carve into it. It's what we'll scribe almost every sigil onto, and it's only the first rung of a longer ladder — Robur, Animata, Spiritus, and finally Aetherea, each one asking for a stronger altar and more blood.
Needs: Welcome to Neo VitaeAsks for:Tabula Rasa
- The Scribe's Tool
We brew an Arcane Scribe Tool in the Tabula Vitae, our first alchemical bench. With an Orb of Vitae seated in it, the bench pulls EV straight from our Anima to prepare this tool, along with reagents and our earliest anointments. We strike the ground with it and a circle wakes under our feet — our first Alchemy Array.
Needs: The Blank SlateAsks for:Arcane Scribe Tool
- Circle of Intent
The Alchemy Array wants two offerings at once. Some pairings craft entirely new objects from scratch — that's how our very first sigil, the Divination Sigil, comes to be — others just fire an effect right there, out into the world around us. Worth trying a combination just to watch the circle answer.
Needs: The Scribe's Tool - A Belt Full of Sigils (Any one proves the point.)
Every reagent we brew in the Tabula Vitae hides a sigil waiting to be scribed: water that never runs out, lava on tap, a void that swallows liquid, haste, magnetism, faster growth. Crafting just one shows us the whole family — a Vitaemancer with a full sigil belt is never caught without an option.
Needs: Circle of IntentAsks for:Sigil of the Fast Miner,
Sigil of the Green Grove,
Lava Sigil,
Sigil of Magnetism,
Void Sigil,
Water Sigil
- A Sense for Anima
We can't manage what we can't measure. The Divination Sigil, scribed on the Alchemy Array, shows how much Anima we're holding and how much EV an altar in front of us has stored. Craft the Seer's Sigil too and we get even more: exact progress, EV per tick, charge reserve. We'll need that once we start aiming for higher tiers.
Needs: Circle of IntentAsks for:Divination Sigil,
Seer's Sigil
- Throwing Daggers
We don't need to watch everything bleed out slowly. A plain Throwing Dagger covers us at range early on, and it kicks off something bigger: our whole Spiritus economy. Whatever we wound with a thrown dagger leaves Raw Spiritus behind when it dies. Pick it up — the Hellfire Forge is going to want it.
Needs: Welcome to Neo VitaeAsks for:Spiritus Essence,
Throwing Dagger
- The Hellfire Forge
The Hellfire Forge eats Spiritus, the residue we tear from creatures wounded by our daggers or our blade. Feed it Spiritus Gems and it pays us back in kind: more gems, Sentient Tools, volatile charges, and more. It never stops being hungry. We keep it fed.
Needs: Throwing DaggersAsks for:Hellfire Forge,
Petty Spiritus Gem
- Early Blood Automation
A Spike Trap feeds the altar every time it hurts a creature within 8 blocks of an Ara Vitae. We craft one and keep creatures coming — a spawner or a Vortex Array both do the job. With a collection array nearby to grab the drops, the altar starts feeding itself while we go handle something else.
Needs: The Hellfire ForgeAsks for:Spike Trap
- Laying the Veins
At the core of everything we build sits a network of routing nodes — the piping that carries items, fluids, and even energy, all through the same lines. We place a Master Routing Node first; every other node auto-connects to the nearest master the moment we set it down nearby.
Needs: The Hellfire ForgeAsks for:Input Routing Node,
Output Routing Node,
Routing Conduit
- Rerouting the Network
Nodes auto-connect to the nearest master when placed, but if we want to hand-reassign one to a different Master Routing Node, the Node Router tool handles it in a single click.
Needs: Laying the VeinsAsks for:Node Router
- Sentient Steel
A Sentient Sword harvests far more Spiritus than any thrown dagger, and it gets stronger the more will we feed it over time — a weapon that carries the memory of every fight. Expensive this early on, but it pays off.
Needs: The Hellfire ForgeAsks for:Sentient Sword
- Bind a Novicius Orb
We lay a diamond on the still-empty altar. Two thousand EV, pulled from whoever is nearby, is enough to turn it into our first Novicius Orb of Vitae — the anchor for our Anima, the hidden network that will carry our soul into everything we craft from here on. One right-click binds the orb to us for good. After that we can offer our own blood whenever we want: near an altar it pours straight into the basin, and away from one it simply waits inside the orb until we're ready. Even this first, humble orb pushes our Anima up to 5,000 EV. It's the smallest of six steps, but every step after this one depends on it.
Needs: Welcome to Neo VitaeAsks for:Novicius Orb of Vitae
- Blank Runes
Runes are what push the altar up a tier. To climb, we lay them in rings around the basin, each new ring a bit deeper and wider than the last, with pillars or capstones joining in at higher tiers. Every rune starts out blank — no purpose at all — until we carve one into it: capacity, speed, or sacrifice.
Needs: Bind a Novicius Orb, The Blank SlateAsks for:Blank Rune
- Tier I: The Ring of Runes (Altar upgrade.)
Eight Blank Runes already close our first ring, one level below the basin, in a 3x3 shape with the center left open. The four cardinal slots take specialized runes; we leave the diagonals alone for now — they only matter at higher tiers. With the altar at this tier, we can also carry a bound orb in our off-hand and pull EV straight from whatever we kill, sparing our own blood.
Needs: Blank RunesAsks for:Discipulus Orb of Vitae
- The Apprentice's Orb
The Novicius Orb no longer holds enough for us. Once the altar reaches Tier I, we can forge the Discipulus Orb of Vitae instead — it stores far more and drains faster too. With it, our Anima's ceiling climbs to 25,000 EV — five times what we had before.
Needs: Tier I: The Ring of RunesAsks for:Discipulus Orb of Vitae
- Tier II: The Second Ring
We add sixteen more runes in a second ring, one level deeper and wider than the first, and raise four pillars at the cardinal sides, each capped in Blood Stained Glass. Twenty-four runes, all told. From here the altar stops being just a tool and starts turning into an engine — Rituals and Sentient Armor both sit right past this point.
Needs: The Apprentice's OrbAsks for:Veneficus Orb of Vitae
- Tier II: The Magician's Orb
We can only forge the Veneficus Orb of Vitae once the altar sits at Tier II, and it's worth the wait: it swaps the Discipulus's tight reserve for 150,000 EV of breathing room — six times what we had.
Needs: Tier II: The Second RingAsks for:Veneficus Orb of Vitae
- Rites and Rituals
This is where Vitaemancy shows us its real size. Every ritual needs a heart: we set a Master Ritual Stone in the middle, mark the lesser stones around it with the Ritual Diviner, and wake the working with a Weak Activation Crystal. Over thirty catalogued rituals are waiting for us, from the Well of Suffering to the Endless Quarry — each one does work for us that would otherwise cost our own blood.
Needs: Tier II: The Magician's OrbAsks for:Weak Activation Crystal,
Master Ritual Stone,
Ritual Diviner
- The Sentient Shell
We bind an iron plate on a Binding array along with a charged gem, and the metal wakes up. Sentient Armour starts small — a hundred points of room to grow — but it keeps a long memory. It logs everything we do: hits taken, distance walked, blocks broken. Slowly the piece stops being generic and starts being ours.
Needs: Rites and RitualsAsks for:Sentient Boots,
Sentient Helmet,
Sentient Leggings,
Sentient Plate
- Bottled Effects
If raising the altar starts to feel slow, there's another road open: potioncrafting unlocks as soon as we hit Tier I. We can brew Alchemy Flasks carrying dozens of effects to drink or throw whenever we need them. Nobody walking around with a full flask belt is ever really unprotected.
Needs: The Apprentice's OrbAsks for:Alchemy Flask
- A Sharper Point
A flask is an effect we hold in our hand. A Tipped Throwing Dagger is that same effect delivered straight to someone else's throat, no need to get close at all.
Needs: Bottled EffectsAsks for:Tipped Throwing Dagger
- The Tau Harvest
Only the Antechamber, past the veil, grows this strange fruit. Weak Tau carries a piece of the demon realm's own vitality — we carry it home and let animals walk over it. They take a little damage over time, and every tick there's a chance the fruit saturates further, until it ripens at last into Strong Tau, dense enough to refine.
Needs: Tier II: The Magician's OrbAsks for:Strong Tau,
Weak Tau
- The Athanor
Tau on its own is only potential. It's the Athanor that does the heavy work — pressing Tau Oil from the fruit and saturating the rest into the shards a higher altar will demand from us. Worth building this furnace carefully; almost every material chain from here on runs through it.
Needs: The Tau HarvestAsks for:Athanor
- The Weak Blood Shard
Fully saturated Tau, worked through the Athanor, finally condenses into a Weak Blood Shard — the piece that finishes the Tier III pillars and opens the door to everything past them. It's also the base for stronger anointments and the potion catalysts that keep our gear deadly for much longer.
Needs: The AthanorAsks for:Polished Bloodstone,
Weak Blood Shard
- Tier III: The Master's Orb
We reach 52 runes in total: the 24 we already had, plus a third ring, deeper still, with pillars crowned in blood-stained glass. We seal the four corners with Polished Bloodstone, cut from Tau Fruit. This is where we forge the Magus Orb of Vitae — 1,000,000 EV of Anima — and the Ritual Diviner [Dusk], which opens up a much wider repertoire of rites.
Needs: The Weak Blood ShardAsks for:Magus Orb of Vitae, neovitae:ritual_diviner_dusk
- Breaching the Veil
We perform the Breaching the Edge of Demon Realm rite and tear a one-time wound through the veil in a single move — on the other side, an Antechamber opens up. We step through. Best to carry keys, or at least a way to find them, because the deeper realm won't open its doors for free.
Needs: Tier III: The Master's Orb - Refining the Tau
Tau Oil takes the Athanor's Cutting Fluid from Basic to Intermediate, and it's the base for the stronger anointments that keep our blades and bows deadly for much longer. It also gives rise to Spiritus Catalysts, which speed up crystal growth — or change what a crystal grows into entirely.
Needs: Tier III: The Master's OrbAsks for:Tau Oil,
Weak Tau
- The Aura Between Worlds
We burn Spiritus in the Vas Maleficum and the chunk's air thickens with will. Whatever we release into it, we can read back later — a hidden reservoir capped at 100 per Aspect.
Needs: Tier III: The Master's OrbAsks for:Spiritus Crucible
- Deeper Locks
The standard key opens the Endless Realm's common doors, but there's a Mine Key cut specifically for the entrance guarded deep within — the one the Foreman doesn't let go of easily.
Needs: Breaching the VeilAsks for:Mine Dungeon Key
- Doubling Down on Runes
With luck, we pull Intricate Hellforged Parts from deep in the dungeon. Paired with Netherite Scrap, upgrading any rune with one doubles the value it already gave our altar.
Needs: Deeper LocksAsks for:Hellforged Parts
- Alchemy of Ore
Blood doesn't just multiply power, it multiplies wealth too. We brew Cutting Fluid in the Tabula Vitae and dissolve an ore in it: the slab strips the metal from the stone, two dust for every ore we offer. We smelt that dust into a finished ingot — double what a normal furnace pulls from the same rock.
Needs: The AthanorAsks for:Basic Cutting Fluid
- Reading the Aura
The Spiritus Aura Gauge shows the local concentration of will nearby. Sneaking while holding it gives us exact numbers per Aspect, from 0 to 100 — handy when we're deciding where to grow our next crystal.
Needs: The Aura Between WorldsAsks for:Spiritus Aura Gauge
- Crystals from Nothing (The crystalline cradle.)
A crystal doesn't grow on its own, it comes out of a saturated Spiritus Aura. Where the aura sits thickest, the Crystallarium Maleficum seeds a cluster that slowly pulls in Spiritus of its own type. Once the cluster forms, we can move it off the Crystallarium to let it grow further — but the aura needs to sit fully saturated at 100 of that type, or the crystal simply won't grow.
Needs: Reading the AuraAsks for:Crystallarium Maleficum,
Raw Crystal Cluster
- The Five Aspects (Any one aspect proves the craft.)
Raw will bends toward a purpose. With a catalyst and an Animus Mote pulled from a Daemonium Animaris, we turn a Raw cluster into Ruina, Nihilum, Vindicta, or Invictus. Each aspect changes how our Sentient Tools behave, and each one refines rituals differently through the Ritual Configurator.
Needs: Crystals from NothingAsks for:Spiritus Invictus Crystal,
Spiritus Nihilum Crystal,
Spiritus Ruina Crystal,
Spiritus Vindicta Crystal
- Enchantment Salvaging
An enchantment is a woven thing, and what's woven can be undone. We load the Athanor with a stack of plain books and a single enchanted item — armour, a tool, even an enchanted book works. The crucible lifts one enchantment at a time onto a fresh book, cleaning the original off. We salvage what would've been wasted, or take apart something rare to reforge it our own way.
Needs: The AthanorAsks for:Enchanted Book,
Sanguine Reverter
- Wear It In
We carve upgrades onto our Sentient Armour with Upgrade Tomes. One click adds a level; sneak and use to bank the maximum at once. Body Builder, Repair, Fierce Strike, Dwarven Might — we build the body that fits how we play.
Needs: The Sentient ShellAsks for:Upgrade Tome
- Coaxing Crystals
A Crystal Catalyst speeds up the growth of a similarly aspected cluster: a raw catalyst on a raw crystal makes it grow noticeably faster. An aspected catalyst goes further still — it flips the growing crystal's type over to the new aspect entirely.
Needs: Refining the TauAsks for:Raw Crystal Catalyst
- Highway to Hell
The Highway to Hell ritual opens a permanent gate into the Endless Realm. We go in armed and armored; nobody unprepared comes out of this well. The deeper we push, the more signs we'll see of rifts opening or something stirring below. New door types — like the mine entrance — unlock as we go; worth watching for them and picking the right key at the right time.
Needs: Tier III: The Master's OrbAsks for:Standard Dungeon Key
- The Mines
Past a Spatial Distortion sits the entrance to the Mines. Mine Dungeon Keys open the way in, toward the veins of Demonite. What haunts these halls isn't a bunch of reskinned villagers — it's ten different kinds of Daemonium, each fighting its own way. We learn them by fighting them.
Needs: Highway to HellAsks for:Mine Entrance Key
- The Foreman
Someone runs these mines, and doesn't clock out easily. The Foreman is a Daemonium Doloris swollen with authority — six hundred hearts of spite guarding a key nobody else carries. We're taking the Mine Entrance Key off him. It won't be without a fight.
Needs: The MinesAsks for:Mine Dungeon Key
- Demonite
We dig out the veins the Foreman used to guard. Demonite is the only real source of Hellforged metal, the material that carries the altar's final tiers.
Needs: The ForemanAsks for:Raw Demonite
- The Crucible's Greed
We run an ore block through the whole Athanor chain to ingots, then use Corrupted Dust with ore fragments in the Tabula Vitae to double them into Ore Gravel. With the Spiritus cycle maxed out, we can push a raw ore past 8x the yield of a normal smelt.
Needs: The AthanorAsks for:Corrupted Dust,
Iron Gravel
- Activate the Crystallum Fractura
The Crystallum Fractura ritual automates the harvest for us: it doubles the growth speed of every crystal type in range and picks each one the moment it matures. For every fully-grown crystal it collects, it applies bonus Fortune scaled to the chunk's Raw Spiritus. We activate it, and let it run on its own.
Needs: Crystals from Nothing - Hellforged Steel
Demonite, once refined, becomes Hellforged Ingots — the backbone of nearly everything we'll build in the endgame.
Needs: DemoniteAsks for:Hellforged Ingot
- Tier IV: The Archmage's Orb
We reach 100 runes in total, with one more ring, deeper still, stacked on top of the previous ones. A Hellforged Block closes each of the four cardinal points, and the altar climbs to Tier IV — home to the most destructive rites in all of Vitaemancy. Here we forge the Dominus Orb of Vitae — 5,000,000 EV of Anima, a thousand times what our very first orb gave us.
Needs: Hellforged SteelAsks for:Dominus Orb of Vitae,
Hellforged Block
- Tier V: The Pinnacle (What you do with that power is yours to decide.)
We close the widest ring of all and reach 172 runes in total. Tall pillars rise at the cardinal sides, crowned with Crystal Clusters — this is the Ara Vitae in its final form, unmatched in capacity and crafting power. The Divinus Orb of Vitae caps it off: 10,000,000 EV of Anima. We asked what this power costs. Now we know: everything, handed over a drop at a time, until asking and answering become the same act.
Needs: Tier IV: The Archmage's OrbAsks for:Divinus Orb of Vitae,
Crystal Cluster
- A Sluggish Heart Serves No One
We forge a Master Routing Node Core to raise how much the network carries per transmission, and a Speed Core to send those transmissions more often. We seat as many as we want. A network fed like that can move oceans in moments.
Needs: Laying the VeinsAsks for:Routing Stack Upgrade,
Routing Speed Upgrade
