What is Ranged Pumps?

Ranged Pumps is part of the pack, which ships version 1.3.0 of the mod (rangedpumps-1.3.0.jar). It has been included since version 0.32 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have only confirm that the mod is installed and which version it is. They don't describe what Ranged Pumps does, who it's best suited to, or how its recipes and configs differ in the pack, so I'm not guessing at any of that. I also have no source placing it in the pack's progression, on the ATM Star path, or in any quests. Check the in-game recipe viewer for the mod's items before relying on any of those details. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Ranged Pumps?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.26 guide

Good news: getting started with this mod is a one-item job. The only thing the pack's recipe data shows for Ranged Pumps is the Pump, so that's the first (and only) thing you need to craft.[2]

Heads up: the pack changed this recipe, so it can differ from what you may remember from the mod's default or from other guides. Follow the in-pack recipe below, not an outside one.[2]

Recipe id: rangedpumps:pump

This is the pack's version of the recipe. It's a shaped recipe, so the layout matters.

Tip: The recipe is shaped, so place the items exactly as the recipe above shows them. The pack's recipe accepts any diamond storage block for one of its slots.[2]

Unverified How the Pump behaves once placed (its range, what it can pump, any config options or power needs) couldn't be confirmed from the sources available for this pack. No quests, in-game descriptions or guidebook entries cover it, so check it in-game before building around it.

How does Ranged Pumps work?

5 parts

The Pump is the block this pack's Ranged Pumps setup is built around. Instead of needing a pipe or hose, it works through a range and drains liquids as it goes. The sources only cover its server config and its recipe, so this section sticks to what those files show.[3][4]

Crafting the Pump

The pack changed the Pump recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's default.[4]

How the Pump works

The Pump moves from block to block within its range and drains liquid as it goes. Two settings control this. pump.range is set to 64 in this pack and can go anywhere from 0 to 1024. pump.speed is the interval in ticks before the Pump moves on to the next block, so a higher number is slower. It is set to 8 here, with the same 0 to 1024 limits.[3]

Power

pump.useEnergy is true in this pack, so the Pump needs energy to work. Server owners can turn that off in the config.[3]

Tank

The Pump has an internal tank. pump.tankCapacity is 32,000 in this pack, and the config requires it to be above 1,000.[3]

Liquid replacement

pump.replaceLiquidWithBlock is true in this pack. Liquids the Pump removes are replaced with a block to reduce lag, and pump.blockIdToReplaceLiquidsWith sets that block to minecraft:stone.[3]

Tip: Don't be surprised when stone shows up where a lake used to be. That is the pack's default behavior, and the config says it is there to cut lag.[3]

Unverified The sources do not explain how the Pump's range is shaped, how to feed it energy, or how to pull fluid out of it with pipes or other automation. Test these in your own world before building around them.

How do you progress through Ranged Pumps?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 1.26 guide

Here's the short version: the only Ranged Pumps item I can confirm in this pack is the Pump, and it's crafted with a shaped recipe that the pack has changed from the mod's default. So if you've seen a different recipe in other videos or on other pages, trust the one below.[2]

Tiers and quests

Unverified I couldn't confirm any pump tiers, upgrades or follow-up items from the pack data I have, so I'm not going to invent a tier breakdown. I also found no quests tied to this mod, so there's no quest-guided progression to follow. If you find upgrades in your world, treat them as unconfirmed until they're checked.

Which Ranged Pumps config options matter?

3 parts

Everything for the pump lives in the server config file, under the pump section. Here is how this pack sets the options you're most likely to touch.[3]

Range and speed

  • pump.range is 64 in this pack. The config accepts values from 0 to 1,024.[3]
  • pump.speed is 8. It's the interval in ticks before the pump moves on to the next block, so a higher number is slower. The config accepts values from 0 to 1,024.[3]

Energy

Tank and liquid replacement

Tip: If you'd rather have the pump leave open space instead of stone, set the replacement option to false. The config only describes it as a lag-reduction feature, so test it on a big lake before you commit.[3]

Unverified The pack's config file doesn't show the mod's own default values, so it's unverified which of these settings the pack changed from the defaults.
