What is Translocators?

2 parts

Translocators moves items and fluids between nearby inventories, with a lot of configurable control, and it still feels natural to Minecraft. This pack includes version 2.8.0.89 of the mod. It's a great pick if you want simple, compact logistics without building big pipe networks.[1][2]

It comes in two forms: the Item Translocator for items and the Liquid Translocator for fluids. You place one on the side of an item or fluid inventory. If the center piece is protruding, items or fluids flow out. If the center is inset, that side takes them in.[1][3]

What you can do with one

  • Right-click the plate to open a configurable filter.[1]
  • Add glowstone to the plate to transfer stacks at a time.[1]
  • Add redstone to toggle input and output with a redstone signal.[1]
  • Add a diamond nugget for regulate mode, which keeps a set amount of items (set in the filter) in the attached inventory.[1]
  • Add an iron ingot to make the translocator emit redstone signals to the attached inventory under certain conditions.[1]
  • Shift-right-click the plate to strip and drop every upgrade on the translocator.[1]

When several outputs are available, items and fluids are split evenly between them. Items are taken from the slot with the largest quantity. Non-redstone outputs are always preferred when they can accept the transfer.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

You'll meet Translocators in the Basic Logistics quest chapter, in the quest "Guess who's back?" quest. The quest describes them as some of the fastest, easiest to use and most versatile item and fluid transfer devices there are. Submitting either the item or the fluid translocator completes its task.[3]

Tip: The quest suggests glowstone on the output translocator to move stacks or buckets per tick. It also suggests a diamond nugget on the input translocator to focus on a specific amount of fluid in mB or a specific number of items going into the target block.[3]

The mod also adds a Crafting Grid, which you place by pressing C (the default key, which can be changed) while looking at a solid top surface. It stays for 20 seconds, or 2 minutes after its last use. Right-click it with items to add or remove them, and press C on it again to try crafting.[1]

Unverified The sources don't include the crafting recipes for the translocators or the upgrade items, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Check the recipe viewer in-game for how to make them. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Translocators?

3 parts

Translocators move items and fluids between nearby inventories without pipes. There are two versions: the Item Translocator for items and the Liquid Translocator for liquids. The quest "Guess who's back?" quest in the "Basic Logistics" chapter introduces them as some of the fastest, easiest to use and most versatile item and fluid transfer devices there are.[1][3]

Step 1: Craft the translocator you need

Start with the Item Translocator if you want to move items. Here is the in-pack recipe:[4]

Crafting Shaped

any iron ingotPistonany iron ingot
any redstone dustany gold ingotany redstone dust

If you need to move liquids, make the Liquid Translocator instead:[4]

any iron ingotPistonany iron ingot
any redstone dustany lapi gemsany redstone dust

Recipe id: translocators:fluid_translocator

Step 2: Place it and set it up

Place a translocator on the side of an item or fluid inventory. It transfers within the same block space. When the center piece is protruding, items or fluids flow out, into the sides with the center inset.[1]

Right-click the plate to bring up a configurable filter. If there are several outputs, the contents are split evenly between them, and items are taken from the slot with the largest quantity.[1]

Step 3: Add upgrades when you need them

Upgrades go onto the plate. Shift-right-clicking the plate strips them and drops them again.[1]

  • Glowstone makes it transfer stacks at a time. The quest says to put it on the output translocator.[1][3]
  • Redstone lets you toggle input and output with a redstone signal.[1]
  • A diamond nugget puts the translocator in regulate mode, so it maintains the amount set in the filter for the inventory it is attached to. The quest says to put it on the input translocator.[1][3]
  • An iron ingot makes the translocator emit redstone signals to the attached inventory under certain conditions, such as when there is no room for an item that matches the filter on an inserting face.[1]

The Diamond Nugget has its own recipe, and the pack has changed it from the mod's version:[4]

The pack changed this recipe, so go by what the block shows.

How does Translocators work?

6 parts

Translocators move items and fluids between nearby inventories, and they do it with a lot of control. There are two versions: the Item Translocator for items and the Liquid Translocator (shown in-game as the Liquid Translocator) for fluids. You place them on the side of an item or fluid inventory, and they transfer within the same block space.[1][4]

How a face moves things

  • If the center piece of the translocator is protruding, items or liquids flow out of that inventory. The faces with the center inset are the ones that receive them.[1]
  • The project page says items and liquids will always travel to non-redstone outputs if they can.[1]
  • Whatever is moving gets split evenly between the available outputs. For items, the translocator takes from the slot holding the largest quantity.[1]
  • Right-click the plate to open a configurable filter.[1]

Upgrades

You customize a translocator by adding upgrades to its plate. Each one changes how the face behaves.[1]

  • Glowstone makes the translocator transfer a whole stack at a time.[1]
  • Redstone lets you toggle input and output with a redstone signal.[1]
  • A Diamond Nugget puts the translocator in regulate mode. It then maintains the amounts you set in the filter of the inventory it's attached to.[1][4]
  • An iron ingot makes the translocator emit redstone signals to the attached inventory under certain conditions.[1]
  • Shift-right-clicking the plate strips every upgrade and drops them.[1]

Regulate mode

Regulate mode behaves differently depending on which way the face points. On an inserting face, it only accepts items until the inventory is filled to the matching filter. On an ejecting face, it ejects any items that don't match the filter.[1]

The pack changed the Diamond Nugget recipe. It is now a shapeless recipe that takes any diamond gem. The project page says one diamond gives 9 nuggets, but the pack's recipe dump doesn't show the output count, so check it in-game.[1][4]

Redstone signals from the iron upgrade

With the iron upgrade, the signal depends on the face. On an inserting face, it emits when there is no room for any item matching the filter. On an ejecting face, it emits when there is nowhere that any matching item could be put.[1]

Crafting the translocators

Both translocators use the mod's own shaped recipes, which the pack hasn't changed.[4]

The crafting grid

The mod's project page also describes a portable crafting grid. You place it by pressing C (the default key, which you can rebind) while looking at a solid top surface. The grid stays for 20 seconds, or 2 minutes after its last use. Right-clicking with items adds them to or removes them from the grid, and pressing C again on the grid attempts the craft. This comes from the mod's description, not from anything the pack's own data confirms.[1]

How do you progress through Translocators?

3 parts

Translocators keep progression simple in this pack. You craft an Item Translocator or a Liquid Translocator, then tune it with Glowstone or diamond nuggets. The pack's quest book covers them in the Basic Logistics chapter.[3]

The quest

The quest "Guess who's back?" quest is your entry point. Its task is satisfied by either the Item Translocator or the Liquid Translocator, so you can pick whichever you need first. The quest calls them some of the fastest, easiest to use and most versatile item and fluid transfer devices there are.[3]

Craft the base devices

Both devices use a shaped crafting recipe. The Item Translocator moves items:[4]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
any redstone dustany ender pearlany redstone dust
any iron ingotPistonany iron ingot
any redstone dustany gold ingotany redstone dust

Recipe id: translocators:item_translocator

The Liquid Translocator does the same job for fluids:[4]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
any redstone dustany ender pearlany redstone dust
any iron ingotPistonany iron ingot
any redstone dustany lapi gemsany redstone dust

Recipe id: translocators:fluid_translocator

Upgrade with Glowstone and diamonds

The quest text explains how to tune your translocators. Glowstone increases transfers to stacks or buckets per tick. A diamond nugget lets you focus a specific mB or item amount being sent into the target block.[3]

  • Glowstone goes on the output translocator and raises the transfer rate to stacks or buckets per tick.[3]
  • A diamond nugget goes on the input translocator and lets you set a specific mB or item amount.[3]

The recipe for the Diamond Nugget is changed by the pack, so don't assume it matches the mod's default. Here is the in-pack version:[4]

9× Diamond NuggetChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

  • any diamond gem

Recipe id: translocators:diamond_nugget

Tip: Remember which end each upgrade goes on: Glowstone on the output translocator, diamond nugget on the input translocator.[3]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Translocators?

2 parts

The quest book entry for Translocators sits in the "Basic Logistics" chapter. It is a single quest, so there is no sequence to follow for this mod.[3]

Guess who's back?

The quest "Guess who's back?" quest asks you to get either a Liquid Translocator or an Item Translocator. Having either item completes the task.[3]

The quest text describes these as some of the fastest, easiest to use and most versatile item and fluid transfer devices there are.[3]

Upgrade tips from the quest

  • Glowstone increases transfers to stacks or buckets per tick. The quest says to put it on the output translocator.[3]
  • Diamonds let you focus a specific MB or item amount sent into the specified block. The quest says to put a diamond nugget on the input translocator.[3]

What changed in Translocators between versions?

1 part

Translocators has been in the pack since All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0 or earlier, and All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships version 2.8.0.89 of the mod.[2]

Mod changelog highlights

  • 2.8.0.88: the mod was ported to Minecraft 1.21.1, which is the version this pack runs on.[5]
  • 2.8.0.89: fixed the mod overwriting the vanilla Diamond Block to Diamonds recipe. This is the version you have in 2.0.4.[2][6]

I have no pack changelog entries that mention Translocators, so the list above comes only from the mod's own changelogs.[5][6]
