Macaw's Lights and Lamps is a mod in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.1.0, where it is version 1.1.5. Adds vanilla styled lamps, torches, street lamps, paper lamps, wall lamps, slabs... Make your world brighter! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Macaw's Lights and Lamps?

1 part

Macaw's Lights and Lamps adds vanilla-styled light sources to your world. That includes tiki torches, street lamp posts, ceiling lights, lamps, paper lamps, wall lanterns, new torches, light slabs, lanterns, ceiling fan lights, candle holders and chandeliers.[1]

Lamps, street lights, tiki torches and ceiling lights can be made as tall as you want, from a 1 block tall lamp to a 54 block tall one. Everything can be turned off and on with a right click.[1]

This pack includes version 1.1.5 of the mod, and it has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The mod has its own quest, "Macaw's Lights and Lamps" quest, in the "Building Tips" chapter, which has 67 quests. The chain leading to it starts at "Building Tips!" quest, then goes to "Decoration!" quest, then to a quest in "Building Tips". That last quest is the general lighting quest, and it accepts a long list of light sources, including Torch and Lantern.[3]

The quest text says Macaw's Lights and Lamps adds all sorts of light sources, from lamps to lanterns to chandeliers.[3]

Two other quests hang off the same lighting quest: "Chipped Lights" quest and "Ars Nouveau Lights" quest. Among the quests I can see, none comes after the Macaw's Lights and Lamps quest. 31 of the chapter's 67 quests aren't shown in my sources, so check the quest book itself for the rest.[3]

Don't confuse it with "Macaw's Mods" quest. That quest sits under "Decor Mods!" quest, a different branch, and it covers Macaw's decor mods in general.[3]

How do you get started with Macaw's Lights and Lamps?

6 parts

Macaw's Lights and Lamps adds vanilla-styled light sources: tiki torches, lanterns, lamps, ceiling lights, street lamps, candle holders, chandeliers and more. Here is the order I'd craft things in, going from the basic torches up to the fancier decorations.[1]

Start with the Framed Torch

The Framed Torch is a good first craft. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Use the recipe below.[4]

The wood versions, like the Cherry Tiki Torch and the Dark Oak Tiki Torch, also use unchanged mod recipes. You can build a tiki torch taller by placing another one on top of it.[4][5]

Lanterns

Next up are the lanterns. The pack changed the recipes for the Chain Lantern, Bell Lantern, Covered Lantern, Cross Lantern and Festive Lantern. The Chain Lantern recipe below is the pack's version.[4]

Each of these lanterns also has a wall version. The Chain Wall Lantern is a shapeless recipe that starts from the lantern itself, so make the lantern first.[4]

Ceiling fan lights are pack-changed too, with one recipe per wood type. Here is the Acacia Ceiling Fan Light. The birch, cherry, crimson and dark oak versions follow the same pattern with their own slabs.[4]

Colored paper lamps are crafted from a White Paper Lamp plus a dye. Here is the Black Paper Lamp. The mod's tooltip also says you can right-click with any dye to recolor.[4][5]

For something fancier, the copper and golden candle holders and chandeliers all have pack-changed recipes. The Copper Chain and Golden Chain are changed as well. Here is the Copper Chandelier as an example.[4]

How does Macaw's Lights and Lamps work?

5 parts

Macaw's Lights and Lamps is described as a very simple mod that adds new light sources: tiki torches, street lamp posts, ceiling lights, lamps, paper lamps, wall lanterns, lanterns, ceiling fan lights, candle holders and chandeliers. The sources here describe a few behaviors that apply to the lights themselves, and nothing about machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item handling.[1]

Turning lights on and off

Everything the mod adds can be switched on and off with a right click.[1]

Building tall

Lamps, street lights, tiki torches and ceiling lights can be made as tall as you want, from a 1 block tall lamp up to a 54 block tall one.[1]

To extend one, you place another one on top of it. The mod's tooltips say this for its stackable lights, and there is a separate tooltip with the same message for tiki torches such as the Bamboo Tiki Torch and the Birch Tiki Torch. The Street Lamp Post is a street lamp post, so it falls under the street lights that can be built tall.[1][4][5]

Recoloring with dye

Some lights are dyeable. Their tooltip says to right-click with any dye to recolor them.[5]

The paper lamps also have crafting recipes for each color, starting from the White Paper Lamp. Here is the blue one as an example.[4]

This is a shapeless recipe from the mod, not changed by the pack.

Wall variants

The wall lanterns have their own shapeless recipes, built from the matching lantern. You get the Bell Wall Lantern from the Bell Lantern, and the Chain Wall Lantern from the Chain Lantern.[4]

Recipe id: mcwlights:chain_wall_lantern

A shapeless mod recipe that the pack leaves as it is.

Pack changes to recipes

The pack changes the recipes for several lights, so they do not match the mod's defaults. The changed ones in the recipes shown include the Bell Lantern, the Chain Lantern, the Covered Garden Light, the Acacia, Birch and Cherry Ceiling Fan Lights, the Copper Chain, and the copper candle holders and chandeliers. Use the recipe blocks instead of the mod's own pages.[4]

Other lights use the mod's own recipes, for example the tiki torches, the colored lamps and ceiling lights, and the Street Lamp Post. The recipe list I had is only partial, so check the recipe viewer in game for anything not covered here.[4]

How do you progress through Macaw's Lights and Lamps?

4 parts

Macaw's Lights and Lamps doesn't have a quest line in this pack, so there's no quest-driven progression to follow. What you get instead is a natural progression by crafting material: wood and wool lights first, then iron-nugget lanterns, then iron-ingot lights, and finally copper and gold decor.[4]

Unverified No pack quests involving this mod were found in the material I had, and it doesn't appear to be on the ATM Star quest path. Treat any quest-based progression for this mod as unconfirmed.

The recipe list I was given is cut off (60 more recipes weren't shown), so the tiers below cover what I could confirm. Recipes flagged as changed by the pack are called out. The dump doesn't show the mod's default recipes, so I can't tell you what they were before the change.[4]

Wood, wool and early-game lights

The early lights use unchanged mod recipes. Tiki torches such as the Acacia Tiki Torch and Bamboo Tiki Torch come in a version for each wood type I could see, including Cherry Tiki Torch and Crimson Tiki Torch.[4]

The coloured lamps and ceiling lights, like the Black Lamp and Blue Ceiling Light, also use the mod's own unchanged recipes. Paper lamps are a simple recolour of the White Paper Lamp, as in the Blue Paper Lamp.[4]

Iron-nugget lanterns and torches

Here the pack steps in. The Bell Lantern, Chain Lantern, Covered Lantern, Cross Lantern and Festive Lantern all have recipes changed by the pack. They are built from a torch and iron nuggets, so you only need a little iron to start.[4]

The wall versions, like the Bell Wall Lantern and Cross Wall Lantern, are unchanged. You craft them shapelessly from the matching lantern and a wooden fence.[4]

The Framed Torch and Iron Framed Torch also have pack-changed recipes. Both use coal and iron nuggets, and the framed torch adds a stick.[4]

Iron-ingot lights

Next come the lights that need iron ingots as well as nuggets, all with pack-changed recipes. The Garden Light and Covered Garden Light add glowstone dust. The ceiling fan lights, such as the Acacia Ceiling Fan Light and Dark Oak Ceiling Fan Light, add glowstone dust and a slab of the matching wood. The Lava Lamp uses a lava bucket.[4]

Candle holders and chandeliers

The candle holders and chandeliers use a metal-ingot tier. The pack changed every one of them, and they all share the same extra materials, honeycomb and string. Only the ingot differs between the iron, copper and gold sets.[4]

Tip: Because the iron, copper and gold candle holders and chandeliers share the same non-metal materials, you can stock up on honeycomb and string once and pick your metal depending on the look you want.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Macaw's Lights and Lamps?

3 parts

In this pack, Macaw's Lights and Lamps shows up in the Building Tips chapter of the quest book. It has its own quest, "Macaw's Lights and Lamps" quest, and it is also one of the eight Macaw quests you need for the chapter's finale.[3]

The lighting branch

The path starts at "Building Tips!" quest, the chapter's opening quest. From there it goes to "Decoration!" quest, which introduces the many mods that add decoration. Next comes a quest in "Building Tips", the general light source quest. It accepts any one of a list of lights, including Torch, Lantern, Sea Lantern and Copper Bulb.[3]

The Macaw's Lights and Lamps quest comes right after that light source quest. The book describes the mod as adding all sorts of light sources, from lamps to lanterns to chandeliers. It is an item task.[3]

The same light source quest also leads to several other lighting quests, so you can pick your order:[3]

Unverified The quest book does not show which specific item the Macaw's Lights and Lamps quest asks you to hand in.

The Macaw's Mods branch

There is a second route that leads to the same mod. "Decoration!" quest also leads to "Decor Mods!" quest, which in turn leads to "Macaw's Mods" quest. That quest describes Macaw Sketch as a popular developer known for decor mods, and asks if you can craft it all.[3]

Macaw's Mods then opens up these quests:[3]

"Macaw's Furniture" quest also follows Decor Mods!, and "Macaw's Windows" quest sits on the glass branch instead, after a quest in "Building Tips".[3]

Completed Macaw

"Completed Macaw" quest is a checkmark quest. It unlocks after the Doors, Fences and Walls, Roofs, Paths and Pavings, Trapdoors, Lights and Lamps, Furniture and Windows quests. The book says you got one of everything from Macaw's Mods, so that is where Macaw's Lights and Lamps counts toward the finale.[3]

What changed in Macaw's Lights and Lamps between versions?

2 parts

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Macaw's Lights and Lamps 1.1.5, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier.[2]

  • Translations: ja_jp was added and es_cl was updated.[7]

Unverified Whether the pack itself changed any recipes or values for this mod is not shown here, because the sources include no pack changelog entries for it.
