What is Cobblemon Ultra Wormholes?

2 parts

Cobblemon Ultra Wormholes adds raid-like Ultra Wormhole events. On a timer, a wormhole opens and an Ultra Beast spawns as a boss that you and other players can battle and catch. The pack includes version 1.1.1 of the mod.[1][2]

Every player who joins the fight hits the same shared HP pool, and there is no cap on how many players can take part.[1]

How an event plays out

  1. A wormhole opens near a random online player, or an operator triggers it by command.[1]
  2. Chat gets an announcement with coordinates, with Xaeros support.[1]
  3. The Ultra Beast spawns as the event boss. By the mod's default you have 10 minutes to challenge it and join in.[1]
  4. Everyone fights the same shared boss HP pool. When the boss falls, rewards go to the players who actually contributed, not just whoever lands the last hit.[1]
  5. If you have a Beast Ball, you can spend it to get a reward copy of the defeated Ultra Beast instead of taking the item rewards. One ball is consumed for the capture.[1]
  6. After a short delay the wormhole closes and the next event timer starts.[1]

Good to know

The mod runs purely server-side. If you also have it installed on your client, you get extra visuals, like a custom End-style skybox and wormhole effects, but the encounter is still managed by the server.[1]

Operators with permission level 2 can use /wormhole start to open an event right away, /wormhole stop to close the active one, /wormhole status to check whether one is running, and /wormhole reload to reload the config without restarting the server.[1]

How do you get started with Cobblemon Ultra Wormholes?

2 parts

Getting started with Cobblemon Ultra Wormholes is mostly about being ready, not crafting. It's a server-side mod that opens timed, raid-style Ultra Wormhole events. Each event spawns an Ultra Beast boss that every player on the server can fight together. The one item the sources name for you to prepare is a Beast Ball, plus a team that's ready for a boss.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Get a Beast Ball into your inventory before an event. The chance to catch the boss needs one in your inventory, and one is consumed when you capture it.[1]
  2. Watch chat. A wormhole opens near a random online player, and the announcement includes Xaero's map coordinates so you can find it.[1]
  3. Head to the wormhole and challenge the Ultra Beast while the event is active. The window is 10 minutes by default, but server owners can configure the event timing, so don't dawdle.[1]
  4. Join the fight with everyone else. All players share one boss HP pool, and any number of players can take part.[1]
  5. When the boss is defeated, contributors get rewards. If you have a Beast Ball, you can spend it on a reward copy of the defeated Ultra Beast instead of taking the item rewards.[1]
  6. After a short post-battle delay, the wormhole closes and the timer for the next event starts.[1]
Tip: Rewards go to everyone who actually took part in the battle, not just whoever lands the final hit. Join in early, even if you can't deal the finishing blow.[1]

If you run the server

Operators with permission level 2 can use /wormhole start to open an event immediately, /wormhole stop to close the active one, and /wormhole status to check whether one is running. /wormhole reload reloads the mod's config without restarting the server. Starting an event by hand is handy for testing before you let the random timer take over.[1]

Active wormholes and boss state persist across server restarts, so a restart won't wipe an event in progress. Players who also have the mod on their client get custom skybox and wormhole visual effects, but the encounter itself is managed entirely server-side.[1]

How does Cobblemon Ultra Wormholes work?

5 parts

Good news and a heads-up. The sources for Cobblemon Ultra Wormholes describe a timed server event, not machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item pipes. So this section walks through how that event runs from start to finish.[1]

The event lifecycle

  1. A wormhole opens near a random online player on a timer. An operator can also trigger it manually with a command.[1]
  2. An announcement goes out in chat with coordinates for Xaero's map support, so you can find the wormhole.[1]
  3. An Ultra Beast spawns as the active event boss, and it stays the currently active boss while the event is running.[1]
  4. You can challenge the boss and join the fight while the event is active. The mod's default window is 10 minutes.[1]
  5. Everyone who joins fights the same shared boss HP pool, and any number of players can take part.[1]
  6. When the boss is defeated, the contributors receive rewards. After a short post-battle delay the wormhole closes and the next event timer starts.[1]

Rewards and catching

Rewards are handled per contributor, so they don't only go to whoever lands the final hit. If you took part in the battle, you get a share.[1]

Catching is optional and needs a Beast Ball in your inventory. If you have one, you can choose to spend it on a reward copy of the defeated Ultra Beast instead of taking the item rewards, and one ball is consumed for the capture.[1]

Tip: Keep a Beast Ball in your inventory before you join a wormhole fight. Without one you can't pick the capture option and will only get the item rewards.[1]

What the mod can be tuned for

The mod itself supports adjusting the event timing, spawn distance, boss level, boss scale, HP multiplier and shiny chance. It also supports a configurable species pool, plus per-species movesets, held items, natures, EV spreads and reward tables.[1]

Unverified These values are set in the mod's config file, and the sources here do not show a config file for this mod in the pack. So the event intervals, boss level, shiny chance, species pool and rewards this pack actually uses are not confirmed here. The 10 minute event window above is the mod's stated default, not a confirmed pack value.

Commands

All commands require operator permission level 2.[1]

  • /wormhole start opens an Ultra Wormhole event immediately, whether or not one is currently active is shown by /wormhole status.[1]
  • /wormhole stop closes the wormhole that is currently active.[1]
  • /wormhole status tells you whether an event is currently active.[1]
  • /wormhole reload reloads the mod's config file without restarting the server.[1]

Server-side and persistence

The mod is purely server-side. Players who also install it on their client get optional visuals, such as a custom skybox and wormhole effects, but the encounter is managed by the server either way. Active wormholes and boss state persist across server restarts.[1]

What changed in Cobblemon Ultra Wormholes between versions?

3 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Cobblemon Ultra Wormholes 1.1.1, the NeoForge build. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.15.0-beta or earlier. There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so the only history I can give you is the mod's own 1.1.1 changelog.[2]

Version 1.1.1

This is the version your pack runs. Here is what it added.[2][3]

  • The /wormhole start command now takes an optional species argument, written /wormhole start <ultra_beast>. It has tab completion and checks your choice against the configured wormhole pool.[3]
  • A new autoStartEvents config option lets servers turn off automatic wormhole scheduling and run events manually.[3]
  • Boss HP can now be set per species with ultraBeastHpMultipliers. Species without an entry fall back to the global bossHpMultiplier, and custom wormhole species are supported too.[3]

Fixes in 1.1.1

  • Ultra Wormhole bosses no longer sometimes linger after an event closes.[3]
  • Fixed boss battle focus and AI lock issues during active encounters, on both Fabric and NeoForge.[3]
  • On NeoForge, boss encounters could end early on high-damage hits. The shared-boss battle flow now matches Battle Tower behavior to fix this.[3]
  • The Xaero waypoint integration now works reliably with the Add action, and clicking coordinates is better at handling map mods.[3]

Balance change

The mod's default HP multipliers for pheromosa, kartana and blacephalon went up from 40.0 to 50.0. That is the mod's default, and the sources don't say whether this pack overrides it.[3]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as cobblemon_ultra_wormholes, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
